GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at PHILLIES 10/16 NLCS Game 1

Great Win, Big Win…..!@#$ yeah……the Giants playing the ironic role of David to the Phillies Goliath score first blood deep in the belly of the beast versus their Ace of Aces…..More than just a Win for the Giants, as that first win is always the hardest and if there were any doubters…….well, lets just say this is now looking clearly like a dog fight……..but lets not get ahead of ourselves…….this is still just 1 win versus a very very good team…..certainly a big win, but it kinda feels like winning the first game in a playoff series versus one of those Michael Jordan Bulls teams…..yes, you know you can play with them now…….but there is a long way to go, and you know they are going to come right at ya,……..but guess what G Fans……the Giants got some momentum and a real chance to get a real lead in this series with another W tomorrow……..ANOTHER BIG BIG Game…….but expect the Phillies to fight tooth an nail for everything……

GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at PHILLIES 10/16 NLCS Game 1

GAMEBALL

A mere 45 days ago I wrote these words…." that is simply a ball you must catch…….and our newcomer is the joker" …of course I was also smart enough to follow that skewering with this…."but I still rather see him play RF over the Sloth that is Guillen" Of course then I certainly knew that not only would he come up with big hits against the hottest pitcher on the Braves staff to send the Giants to the NLCS…….but he would also come up with a 2 homer game versus the Best !@#$ pitcher in the !@#$ National League…….but seriously, this kid has done more damage in the last 2 games than Guillen did in a month of starting……and the way he is swinging the bat one starts to think of those unlikely postseason performances that have propelled champions of the past…..Lemke, Hatcher (Billy or Mickey), dare I even say Mazeroski???? Well getting ahead of myself a little bit here……but Ross is smoking hot right now….lets just hope this streak carries on for a couple more weeks……

TIP OF THE CAP : Image
BURRELL
Brings his A game to Philly……after being swinging wildly at strike 3 in his first AB…..he flared an single down the right field line…….but the real damage was in the 6th where he laced a Double off Ibanez wrist as he cozied up against the left field wall…..and then Burrell stand in scored the 4th run of the night on a Uribe 47 bouncer up the middle…..

URIBE
Hey, may not have been the prettiest single in the world, but it was well placed and did the job……..and at least he didn’t K…….remember kids, good things happen when you put the ball in play……at least with 2 down and a runner on 2nd…..

LOPEZ
Anyone still miss Bowker?

TIMMY
Man…….he looked like August Timmy out there most of the night……but you got to hand it to the kid…..when going was tough, he was !@#$ nails……just filthy nasty stuff out there……with control all over the place….with a fastball that seemed to be fading away…….he went back out there for the 7th and put an exclamation point on a solid outing that could have easily been a nightmare……way to gut it out…….

WILSON
As if taking a cue from Timmy's performance……Brian was wild as hell, but in the end just way to filthy to handle…..getting 4 outs with 4 K's with lots of torture mixed in

BOCHY
Sent Timmy up to hit in the top of the 7th and then back out there in the 7th when most of the Western World thought he was gassed…..a number of times when we have seen Tim dip below that 90 mark on his fastball, he has proceeded to fall apart…..but this time he came back out there and looked everybit the September Timmy we have gotten used to…….and then pulling Burrell for Nate with 2 down in the top of the 6th…..well that seemed to me a lot like going for a 2 point conversion when up by 5 in the middle of the 3rd quarter…..a little early to go into a defensive posture……but hell if it didn't work out…..Pat might not score that 4th run and the pen was able to hold off the Phillies and make that move look brilliant……..I still don't like it, but it worked…..so what can I say……if I was managing it would likely be tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 32nd inning right now

JOKER
Image
CITIZENS BANK
Image
I left Citizens Bank Park with 3 solid impressions……first, this park is a !@#$ bankbox…..corners are short and the balls fly…….second, the park is very well designed for the fan, comfortable with nice sightlines and a wide open concourse…..and third, the female fans here dress sluttier than any baseball fans I have seen……Now two of those things I can appreciate…….but good god, this park is hitter friendly……I don't want to hear about your park factors and all that….I know what I see and the ball just !@#$ flies out of this park…….and tonight the Phillies took advantage with a couple opposite field wall scrapers that are maybe doubles in a fairer ballpark……but hey, that’s the park, thems the rules and the Phillies took advantage…..still doesn't change the fact that it pisses me off…….and on a side note, I do have to repeat that this is a really nice ballpark to watch a game in……and for the most part the fans were pleasant and friendly……of course the Giants were not the visiting team, and as I usually do……I cheer for the home team if the Giants or Dodgers aren't involved…..

SMACK OF THE STICK : Image
HALLADAY
Big Bad Roy…..lucky to get the ball out of the infield Roy……well, that hype machine sure did build THAT up…..sure Roy is a great pitcher, but far from infallible …and this is the kind of pitcher the Giants actually have a chance against…..its guys like Tim "I can't break a plane of glass with my fastball" Stauffer that drive us nuts……nah, if the Phillies were smart they would sign Rick White out of retirement……and let HIM throw a no hitter against us……..yes, I am still pissed about Rick White, thank you very much…….

COUSINS
Where exactly is the strike zone tonight??? just !@#$ clueless….and this is the best the umpires union can offer…..now to be fair, there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to his incompetence…..calls on both sides of the ledger were blown……

MANUEL
Yes, he still is a douche bag…….but thanks for that whole Lidge thing……the classic bringing in the closer to get work and then he falls apart…..well nearly, but still has got to help the Giants in a future appearance…….and got to love those back to back Utley Howard lineups……yes, I know that’s what he's done all year and why change now…..well sure, I guess……but it sure is nice when you have a weapon like Lopez……and you don't have to swap Planco and Utley like Manuel has toyed with…… you jhust can slip Werth into that 4th spot and Howard back to 5th…..and with Rollins in the 6th spot hitting well from the right side…..well……I guess Werth doesn't look like a cleanup hitter so that will never happen……and that’s fine by me if you keep those two lefties back to back …….

PHILLIES PHANS
Whistles???? Like the Vuvuzella of Philadelphia…..the announcers saying something about whistling at Tim for the hair……ok, great I get it…..but can you !@#$ cut it out when Halladay is pitching and Tim isn’t even on the !@#$ field??? good god, I swear half those !@#$ probably don't even know what the joke is……I guess Phillies Phans don't approve of Long Haired Athletes……that is unless it comes in the form of a Mullet accompanied by Gay Mustache

(The fine print: There will be cussing and bad taste. This is written with the heat of the moment feel you may have during the game, with rational thought sprinkled in now and then. This is entertainment folks, sure there is a lot of truth and I am a genius, but this is all about having a laugh and enjoying the ride…….now lets go heckle Jeff Kent when he gets inducted to Cooperstown..)

Another very entertaining write-up Merk.

I really hope you ARE saving all of these together in one place somewhere.
They are the "real-life" versions of CSMike's sagas.
Hence, priceless "real-life" Giants memorable moments.
If you write a book and pay for a copy for me, I will buy one.

Good to hear and see.
And Nice jersey.
(Might be tough to wear that around the kids at the Park-- unless you are in Philly, where the kids are too busy to notice it-- due to cleaning adult Philly fan puke off themselves, while asking dad what a "hippy" is)
