Gammons: Giants Sign Zito!

Barry Zito is staying in the Bay Area with the San Francisco Giants.

Sources told ESPN's Peter Gammons that Zito will receive a seven-year contract from the Giants, with the deal averaging approximately $18 million per season. Zito will be formally introduced by the Giants this afternoon.

Gammons reports that Zito picked the Giants over the Rangers, Mets, Yankees and Mariners. In additon, sources told Gammons that the Yankees never made a formal offer.

Zito is 102-63 in 222 career starts, including a 16-10 mark with a 3.83 ERA in 34 starts this year before becoming a free agent.

Nice. I might have to ape your idea and slap Cosmo (my 6 month old Berner) up there as my new avatar. I have Dwight Schrute up there for awhile.

Oh, sure, Mandrake will tell you that Cosmo's none too keen on strangers just yet, but we've hired that dog psychiatrist from "Down & Out In Beverly Hills" to work on his issues.

Chester doesn't like men with hats or dogs with balls.

I just figure those quirks are part of his charm. I've become a fan of the US version of Teh Office, even though the British one is still tops...I got Season 2 for Christmas and am going to start it tonight (I would've last night but the bong rips led me to watch Talledega Nights instead...the DVD has a feature where it's just all the footage from Walker and T.R. that actually made me wet myself. Could be the age, could be the Brewer's Drip, but I think it was the fact that I was laughing so !@#$ hard..."AH HOPE YOU CATCH PNEUMONIA AND DIE, OL' MAN)
