Oakland's defense has been a huge disappointment.
I think Asomugha and Morrison are having a solid seasons but Burgess has maybe been the most disappointing player on that team this season.

ESPN reports that Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis sent head coach Lane Kiffin a resignation letter several weeks ago and the coach has declined to comment. Kiffin was 4-12 in his first season as head coach for a team that was an NFL-worst 2-14 in 2006. Kiffin has 2 years left on a 3 year deal that is reportedly worth over $2M per year. ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported that former Minnesota and Arizona head coach Dennis Green and former Raider player and San Diego assistant James Lofton are atop his wish list. Lofton was fired as Chargers WR coach earlier this week.
-------------------------------------
Talk about a disfunctional franchise. 5th coach in 6 years, I believe. There is no stability there at all and both those guys are desperate for a head coaching gig if they resort to this mess. How about no one takes this job and Al Davis coaches this team from upstairs with Jim Otto helping him?

Re: Oakland Raiders Thread
al davis needs to croak already. He has single handedly ruined what was once a proud organization. ITs not the 70's anymore Big AL!

Adam Sheftner of NFL Network said that Kiffin will return to the Raiders for 2008, we'll see about that.
However, I've heard other sources state that Kiffin and ownership are working on a buyout and that Al Saunders, the former Chiefs and Redskins OC, is also a candidate.

Raiders Free Agent Recap through 1 week:
- Re-Signed DL Tommy Kelly to a 7 year, $50M with $18M guaranteed
- Signed S Gibril Wilson to 6 year, $39M with $16M guaranteed
- Signed OT Kwame Harris to 3 year, $16M with $3M guaranteed for year 1.
- Signed WR Javon Walker to 6 year, $55M with $6M SB and $10M guaranteed for first 2 years.
- Lost WR Jerry Porter to Jaguars for 5 year, $30M with $10M guaranteed
- Lost DE Chris Clemons to Eagles on 5 year deal
Grade: D
Very risky signings with a lot of guaranteed money being thrown around. Kelly is a very talented DT who has yet to tap his potential. He suffered a torn ACL in 2006 and played in 7 games in 2007. Giving $18M guaranteed to someone who has yet to prove himself as a starter is risky. I don't know what other word I could use. Gibril Wilson should solidify the back 2 and is an upgrade over Stuart Schweigert. But for $16M guaranteed? Not. Kwame Harris is, at best, a backup tackle at both positions and they signed him to be a starter. I don't see this working out although the zone blocking scheme is likely a better fit for him as he is more of a finesse OT. Walker is talented but he has severe knee problems. I'll bet that this is a contract with a boatload of incentives and its not going to be 6 years/$55M.
