Inge
From Rotoworld:
The Tigers are struggling to find a taker for Brandon Inge, who is owed $19.1 million over the next three years.
Inge has requested a trade, and the Tigers would prefer to dump his salary rather than keep him as an unhappy utilityman. "There is no need to trade Brandon before spring training starts," said GM Dave Dombrowski. "However, if it makes sense to do so, we will. We will try and honor his request to play every day at third base." Unfortunately for them, the Giants, Phillies and Dodgers have all made it pretty clear that they're not interested.
Thanks Bonds that Sabean isn't interested in Inge. I'd want Feliz before the Giants trade for Inge and that is saying a lot.
Just sayin'

You have to admit, it takes effort to find a worse 3B than Feliz. But they are out there. I was sincerely concerned that Sabean was going to trade Wilson and Corriea for Inge.

Re: Inge
I'm all for acquiring Inge... if he can still play behind the plate and we can move Molina for a decent prospect.

Re: Inge
Would not the Tigers actually prefer Rich Aurilia instead of Ray Durham? The Tigers have a starting 2B in Palanco and Aurilia could replace Inge as the supersub since Aurilia can likewise play all infield positions and is willing (unlike Inge) to be a supersub.
I could see why you as a Giants fan might want to dump both Durham and Roberts in exchange for the Tiger's dump of Inge. The Giants move a combined 3 years and $20.5M in contracts while picking up 3 years and $19.1M in contracts and thus save $1.4M. The Giants get a starting 3B to hold the fort while wanting for Angel to develope and they free up 2B for Frandsen, Leftfield for Lewis and Davis, and 1B for Schierholtz and Ortmeier. But, again, why would the Tigers do this? What would the Tigers do with Durham?
The trade I suggest still moves a combined 3 years and $17.5M in contracts and thus Inge as a starting 3B has only a net dollar cost to the Giants of $1.6M. The trade I suggest still frees up LF for a Lewis/Davis platoon and 1B for a Schierholtz/Ortmeier platoon. Yes, Durham is still our starting 2B. But we can still get Frandsen 120 starts (40 each at 2B, SS, and 3B) if we rest wisely Durham, Vizquel, and Inge.

The Giants still get fucked in the contract years in the swap. Durham for one more and Roberts for two while Inge has three. Inge is not even an option for a bad contract swap.

How does contract swaps of 2 years of Roberts +1 year of Durham or Aurilia not equal 3 years of Inge? By my math 2+1 = 3 always. Why would you not prefer just Inge instead of both Roberts and Durham or Aurilia? Does not just Inge free up one more roster spot to give another youngster a chance with?
