Baseball America Top 10 Giants Prospects

Rating the prospects is the whole "ceiling" vs. "likelihood to make it and contribute" debate I am so keen on discussing (right, Brute? emoticon ).

I am surprised that Romo didn't make the list. I guess when you apparently have to pick 5 guys that didn't play pro ball last year for your top 10, there aren't that many spots available.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

The absence of both Anderson and Wilson is also a head scratcher.

Brian Wilson has logged 50+ innings in the bigs for his career and Luke Anderson has been out of proball for a while now.

yeah, the Anderson comment was a joke.

I'm curious to see what BA writes in Romo's scouting report, of course I'm assuming he's in the top 30. Someone from there said he throws about 6 pitches for strikes from 3 different arm angles. I told Romo about that and he got a kick out of it.

I imagine it's hard for any future middle relief prospect to ever make a list like this one but it sounds like the Giants are really high and Romo. Could he make the leap to the bigs this year?

Just sayin'

It had completely slipped my mind that Wilson had thrown almost 30 innings in 2006. How time flies when your team sucks.

No way. He's never pitched above A level. If they push him to AA and he does well, I would expect him to finish the year in Fresno.

Since the Giants won't contend in 08, there's no reason to rush him to the bigs. '09 would be fine (if he's ready).

Considering his K/9 was over 14 last year, he may end up being more than a "middle relief guy". He also didn't walk that many guys. Here's hoping he can keep it up next year!

I wouldn't be suprised, macro. He was a 24 year old in A Ball. BA is still comprised of pedophiles.

Yeah. Forget that he pretty much dominated the opposition his 3 years of pro ball. "He's 24 - he should be pitching like Gagne on steroids".

Sheesh.

By 24 they are just proven veterans, right? If you can't reach your ceiling by the time you can drink, you should just stop trying
