Baseball America Top 10 Giants Prospects
As with Cain, the Giants won't be afraid to push Alderson
In no way, shape, or form did the Giants "push" Cain.
--- Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

If Alderson is called up during the 2009 season and does pretty well, that could make Cain expendable (especially if Sanchez does well starting), and he might get traded for some pretty nice prospects after the 2009 season.

Cain was drafted in 02 and made his big league debut in 05 when he was 20. If the Giants didn't "push" him, then they certainly didn't hold him back.

When people say that they're pushing Alderson, fan tends to think of Lincecum. The Cain timeline would put Alderson's debut in the second half of 2010, which may be fast for developing a high school draftee, but it's not that soon.

They definitely did not "push" him. He worked his way through the system normally, about one year at every level, and not skipping levels. (except for the year he split almost evenly between SJ and Hagerstown, when it was obvious by his 4th start that he was wasting his time in single A).
I'm not saying they held him back, I'm pointing out an obvious non-truth by a supposed "professional" talent evaluator who implies Cain was "pushed".
Pushed not Cain was. Pushed better adjective for Lincecum is.

Alderson signed late, so didn't pitch in Short-season ball. I would hope that he'd start the year in Augusta, and if it goes well, spend the 2nd half in San Jose. "Pushing" would have him pitching in AA at the start of (or even before) 2009.
The Giants don't need to "push" him, and I'm glad that they took their time with Cain, and he had all the time he needed to work on his pitches (and his head game) before appearing in the majors.
Cain still holds the record for the best game I ever saw pitched in person - and it was in San Jose. Amazing game.

Does a BA subscriber want to post the writeups for each of the guys on there? Unfortunately for me, my yearly subscription ran out a little less than a month ago. I rarely use the site, so I don't think it is worth the insane amount of money they charge.
