NFL #1 pick: Brady Quinn?
Brute,
I am by all means not a Raiders fan, and would never claim Silver and Black, but I have heard Russell's name floating around Da' Raiders headquarters already. They like his size, his arm strength and his potential. Personally, I don't think he would be a good fit, and I wouldn't gamble on him, based off of a great BCS showing.
As for Quinn, he is the best of the bunch, but I wouldn't take him at #1 either. I really think the Raiders should trade down, try and get Johnson/Jarrett or stake up on multiple picks.
As for Troy Smith, I forecast him having a similar career to Shaun King or Akili Smith. He has the speed and playmaking ability to be a good QB, but lacks the arm strength, and the pocket-passer mentality to survive in the NFL.

NFL #1 pick: Brady Quinn?
sweet god, if Quinn goes #1, the world will end. He sucks. Bigtime.
Brady Quinn couldnt hit the water if he fell out of a boat.
P.S.-- dont remind me of Akili Smith, it makes me sick to my stomach. Dont remind me of David Klinger either. Or Ki-Jana Carter. =P

Re: NFL #1 pick: Brady Quinn?
From the "Draft Daddy" blog:
DD.com Mailbag P.W.:
Hi guys. I love the blog more than ever. You guys are, by far, the fastest to report news and the most thorough in providing content. Keep reminding me to hit the ads, and I will keep hitting them.
A year ago, I sent you a couple tips that turned out to be 100 percent correct. I have a much better one this year: "It is done", the Oakland Raiders will take L.S.U. quarterback Jamarcus Russell number one overall. Negotiations will start early. May as well just get it right now.
My source attends U.S.C. and [has contacts within the program]. A big part of the Lane Kiffin/ Steve Sarkisian interview process included questions about why the Raiders did not select a talent like Matt Leinart in 2006. Reportedly, Al Davis had to explain his way out of that one for Lane Kiffin to listen.
U.S.C. head coach Pete Carroll slipped up in the media explaining Kiffin loves Russell and going down the field with the ball. My source says it ran much deeper in the interviews: "Mr. Davis, sir, I'd love to take this job and coach Jamarcus Russell. I know how much you like to go down the field. So do I, but I want the best tools available and Russell has them." No kidding.
[source]
Also, from a recent interview with Pete Carroll:
Carroll hinted at who he expects the Raiders to select with the first pick of the NFL Draft. He said that Kiffin prefers a vertical passing offense that suits LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell better than Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn.
"The kid from LSU is exactly what they're looking for," Carroll said, "more so than the kid from Notre Dame."

Russell will be the pick. They already have Moss, Porter, and Curry at WR.

Just watch. The Raiders will trade down and pole the Lions in the process, forcing them to pick someone, rather than trade down themselves.
