WEDNESDAY 4/19 at ARIZONA L 3-10
WEDNESDAY 4/19 at ARIZONA L 3-10
GAMEBALL
TRAVIS ISHIKAWA
Ahh the promise of youth...
Will Ishikawa be that powerful first sacker we have lacked since Will the Thrill?
Or will he wash out like another JR Phillips, or Tiny Minor.
Well tonight, we can still hope and dream.
Travis is conducting a short Spring Internship with the Big Club. Soon, Travis will take his sparkling glove, and his sweet (aka long) swing back to Norwich to ride the busses to metropolises like Altoona, Bowie, and Binghamton.
But tonight Travis, you get that one thing every kid dreamed of... the Gameball from your First Big League Knock
Tip of the cap to Randy Winn, who with a 2 hit night has quietly lifted his batting average to .377. So much for that fabled "slow start."
JERK OF THE GAME
MATT CAIN
Ahh the promise of youth..
The Most heralded prospect the Giants have "produced" since Will the Thrill.
Rookie of the Year? Cy Young? MVP? Hall of Fame?...
Hey.. lets try getting out of the 4th inning without embarrassing yourself....
My fear is this game will be a microcosm of your Rookie year. A little of DAZZLE us with your POTENTIAL, like you did in your first 3 perfect innings. Mixed with a little, FRUSTRATE us with your ROUGH EDGES, like you did in the 4th, where you started with a HR, DOUBLE, TRIPLE, WALK... before you mixed in a DROPPED BALL for a RUN SCORING BALK.....
Ahhhh Cain... I hate you, but I love you.... and really, what choice do I have....

Re: GAMEBALL and JERK of the GAME
yeah...merkin..you have to make cain sleep in the dog house tonight..tell him to walk the dog too..
--- Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

Re: FRIDAY 4/21 at COLORADO L 9-8 GAMEBALL and JERK of the GAME
I maybe the only one on this board but I'm not going to be too tough on Benitez for tonight. I'm going to blame Felipe Alou.
I don't care if the pitcher sucks or not, you don't put in a pitcher that hasn't pitched in a real game situation in about a month and suddenly think he can get out of the mess he was put into(bases-loaded, 0 out).
Alou lied because he said he would ease Benitez back into game action. You start by putting Benitez into a game that is a blowout, then continue by putting him in tougher situations each time. It was horrible mistake that costed the Giants the game.

I definitely think Felipe was out of his mind for doing that.
He also took out Kline, who looked the sharpest of anyone, after easily retiring one freaking batter.
But the fact of the matter is, the bullpen collectively blew it, with a huge push from Felipe

I think Alou did the same thing last year coming back from the Groin Injury too.
Kline looked good against the lefty, and he as always done decent vs Right handers... I know there was no chance of him leaving Kline in with Armando ready.. You or I would have.. but never Felipe.
And if you think about it.. Usually, when a closer blows a save for the major league team, the bullpen is already been used up... The player called in to clean up after the closer (in this case Worrell) is normally one of the last on the bench.....
