Now you either are a leadoff hitter with speed but below average OBP or your a guy with a high OBP but with average speed. Sanders could be a speed/high OBP type at the current pace he is at right now. nondisclosed_email@example.com (sfgiantsfan1285)Sat, 25 Mar 2006 20:32:42 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9786,from=rss#post9786https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9786,from=rss#post9786Been a while since we had a true leadoff hitter in Brett Butler (maybe Durham for one good year) True High OBP and Speed Leadoff men are more scarce today then anytime in recent memory. There are only a handful in the game, and their scarity makes Sanders that much more valuable to us. Look at the $$$ Furcal got... and he is only a .350 OBP leadoff hitter (abeit with strong SS Defense) quote:sfgiantsfan1285 wrote: Sanders should move to second base, it will help his shoulder. The problem I have with Sanders is that he's below average defensive player at a defensive dominated position. Offensively, he's fine. He's a leadoff hitter with speed and improving patience at the plate. He'll cut down on those 90 K's he had last year and will still put up the good BB numbers. ETA should be 2007 as this team will be in rebuilding mode. nondisclosed_email@example.com (merkin)Sat, 25 Mar 2006 00:49:44 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9785,from=rss#post9785https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9785,from=rss#post9785Sanders should move to second base, it will help his shoulder. I think Frandsen will get some time this year and take over next year. Sanders... well, he is one of the only "great" talent position players we have. If he recovers from shoulder surgery, he could be a SPECIAL player... Sanders can be MUCH better than Frandsen. Frandsen is the kinda player you root for... not great at anything... JUST a GOOD BALLPLAYER   quote:ARAS wrote: he could be Giants another franchise star. what about his ETA? 2006 late? or 2007 early? marcus sanders or Frandsen, which do you like ?   nondisclosed_email@example.com (merkin)Fri, 24 Mar 2006 09:08:49 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9783,from=rss#post9783https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9783,from=rss#post9783he could be Giants another franchise star. what about his ETA? 2006 late? or 2007 early? marcus sanders or Frandsen, which do you like ?   nondisclosed_email@example.com (ARAS)Thu, 23 Mar 2006 22:58:27 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9782,from=rss#post9782https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9782,from=rss#post9782He's never hit more than 5 HR in the minors and there were no signs of him developing power. I know he's hit a couple HR this ST, so maybe he'll hit some HR this season. I agree with .300 part, I think he's a very good contact hitter.nondisclosed_email@example.com (sfgiantsfan1285)Thu, 23 Mar 2006 12:13:45 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9781,from=rss#post9781https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9781,from=rss#post9781I hear ya, but I think the kid is a possible 300 hitter with solid D.. worthy of a lineup spot And power, probably not Robby Thompson, but not a slap hitter either... And players have a tendency to add power as they get older... even into their 30's Maybe never 25-30 But I could see 15-20 quote:sfgiantsfan1285 wrote: He's never going to be a power hitter, he can hit for contact though. I know there have been Robby Thompson comparisons but he'll hit for less power than Robby. I see Frandsen being a utility infielder that can play decent defense at 2B, SS, and 3B and be a top PH off the bench. nondisclosed_email@example.com (merkin)Thu, 23 Mar 2006 12:02:26 +0000 Re: Love Frandsen....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9780,from=rss#post9780https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p9780,from=rss#post9780He's never going to be a power hitter, he can hit for contact though.
