Finley and Winn... CF or RF

OK
I have to assume (hope) that
when Bonds is off, Alou Plays left.

And of course
when Alou is off, Bonds plays left.

So here is the question.....

When Finley and Winn are in the same lineup

Who will play Center? Who will play Right?

Feel free to reply with your reasoning.

Either way... its better than Grissom circa 2005

i like winn??

Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

I like Winn in CF. I think he has a lot of speed and he can back up whoever is playing in RF by helping out in the death valley area.

Yeah, either way you have to give props to Sabean for getting these guys. Could you imagine if we still had Grissom and Alfonzo?

Anywayz, i think CF should go to Finley just because Winn has a noodle arm.

Don't most teams put their strongest throwing arm in RF?

thats what i was thinking

Put the noodle in center.....

But then again... I think FInley can cover more ground...

You could cheat him over towards left a little and cheat Winn towards center....

That may benefit us more than the noodle in RF costs.....

hmmmmm

Finley will play CF while Winn will play the corner OF positions when Finley is in the lineup. Reasoning is that Finley has played CF all through his ML career and never played the corner OF position. Winn has played all 3 positions in his ML career and I believe he played LF before being dealt to the Giants.

Finley actually played all three positions from 89-91 with the orioles and astros. His stats are okay. According to espn stats Stats are Games, innings, Total Chances, Put outs, Assists, Errors

G, INNG, TC, PO, A, E

LF
37, 149.2, 35, 35, 0, 0

RF
185, 1180, 310, 293, 7, 10

Center
2159, 18257, 5182, 50001, 120, 61

Winn
LF
325 , 2608, 688, 672, 12, 4

RF
76, 691, 152, 135, 12, 5

Winn easily has more experience with left and right and finley easily has more experience in center. winn only has 24 assists in center with while only playing just over a fourth of the total innings (4500+)and games that finley has played. finley has 120 assists from center(five last year in only 100 games and 19 the past three years). Also last year finley had his best Zone Rating since 2001 and his best Range factor since 1992.

I think they would keep finley in center with all of that experience, arm, knowledge of the game. Defensively it is better to throw winn in the corner spots. If finley has a great year I would like to see how this situation plays out next year.

No brainer as far as I'm concerned, Finley in Center and Winn in RF. Finley could cheata little to left with Winn covering the right alley. Winnis good, but Finley just has that great ability to read the ball right from the bat.

Actually, I'd keep Alou in RF when Bonds is out, and put Winn in LF, Finley in CF. Reason is, Alou played a decent RF in China Basin last year, better than almost anyone has since Cruz Jr. or Ellis Burks - it's a real tricky RF and better to have someone there that knows it. Also, Winn has played a lot more LF than Finley has. Winn played LF in most of the WBC games did he not?

That was essentially what I was going to post as well. I think it would be better for Alou to just stay in RF even when Bonds is out of the line up.

Winn would be the guy I'd move all the time. He would start in CF when Bonds and Alou play. He starts in LF when Bonds is gone and RF when Alou is gone.

Alou played LF more than RF last year.
He did a respectable job in both spots,
but that right-center gap is a killer.
Also in 2005 Alou got used to being shuttled back and forth, so I think he could do the same again this year.

Games By Position
LF: 74, RF: 53, DH: 3, PH: 3

If you recall, on the corner spots Ellison and Linden played alot of RF, whereas Feliz played alot of LF.

OF course we had Grip, Ellison, and Winn in CF
