8/22/2014 GIANTS @ Nationals Gameball and Joker

The Giants came out and put a 10-3 spanking on the Washington Nationals in D.C.
Doug Fister came into the game with a [sign in to see URL] ERA, but his sinker did not work at all tonight, and by the middle of the game, the Giants made him pay for it. Joe Panik—our 2B of the future—hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. While Tim Hudson didn't have his best stuff to begin the game, unlike Fister, he eventually found it, and he settled in. The Giants' pounded the National's bullpen for some more runs, and the Nationals didn't go down quietly. They had a 10-game winning streak, and even though they were down by a ton, they still played like their asses were on fire.
The Giants were due to finally beat a good team. We beat an old and unmotivated Phillies team, who were looking forward to their offseason hunting trips, last weekend, and then we beat an over-agressvive and young Cubs' team this weak.
This was just the Giants' sixth win against a winning team since June 1, and the giants improve to 68-59. They remain a game ahead of the Braves for the wild card, and three-and-a-half back of the Dodgers in the West.

Ever since his trip home to New York, Panik has caught fire, and he has started to make people think that he could be our second basemen of the future.
He went four-for-five tonight, which included the big hit in the game, a three-run home run, his first of his career, to give the Giants a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning.
This kid is playing like he's invincible right now, and I'm sure he feels that way.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Tim Hudson: He started off with his stuff not working, but he eventually found it in the middle innings, and he got the win.

Buster Posey: It's been a rough year for him, and he's now homered in back-to-back games.

Angel Pagan: He had a pair of hits, and he also had great at-bats against Fister.
He did leave the game with upper left calf tightness, so let's not this isn't too serious.

Javier Lopez: Once Hudson tired out, Lopez came in and completed the sixth inning with ease.

Travis Ishikawa: Ish is BACK, and he is back with motivation. He knocked in a pair of key insurance runs with a double off the wall in the eighth.

Hunter Pence: Has has struggled as of late, and he needed an RBI hit, which he got in the ninth.

Boch: Boch accepted the ALS, IceBucket Challenge after the game. He contributed to a great cause, and he didn't do it in California, where we're completely out of water.

Gutierrez was the buzzkill of the night. When you have an eight-run lead, CHALLENGE the hitters, throw them strikes, DON'T NIBBLE!!!!!
Gutierrez walked a pair, and he allowed a run on a double.

Cubs: Tarp Gate was a complete debacle. Big chunks of the infield were left uncovered, and consequently, the infield turned into a swamp.
Fortunately, it's over now, but we have since discovered that this happened, because the Cubs —[sign in to see URL]]cut the hours of their grounds crew, to avoid paying their health insurance, likely because of Obamacare.
You gotta love these super-rich people who have to scramble to make cuts, so they don't have to pay a microscopic fraction of their profits for other people's health insurance.
On the bright side, the fan who wanted a warning moat 11 years ago finally got his wish!
