6/23/2014 Padres @ GIANTS Gameball and Joker

The Giants lost another rough one.
6-0 was the final at the hands of the San Diego Fathers, and Odrisamer Despaigne, who I had never heard of until five hours ago, was lights out in his major league debut.

This is the first time I have ever given the gameball to a guy on the same day I found out he existed.
As I said in my opening comments, Despaigne was lights out. He allowed just four hits through seven innings.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Tony Gwynn: If another team is holding a ceremony after you passed away, then you know that you were something special.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Gwynn.

The Replay Umpires

You saw what happened in the fourth inning when the umpires in New York City ruled that Seth Smith wasn't going to score from first base when the fan out in right-center field reached over the fence and caught the ball with his camp, and I just want to know what the New York umpires were high on, because I don't know how in their right minds they couldn't award Smith with a run.

Cainer: Cain just can't get it going. He struggled, and he gave up three runs in the wild fourth inning, then he got knocked out as part of a three-run eighth by the Padres.
The Giants will be half-way through the season after Friday—if you count the suspended game in Colorado, which I am—and Cain only has one win. Cain is having the worst year of his career, and I will say this right now, the Giants are not going to win the National League West if Cain continues to pitch like this.
