Panik, Hicks, Arias, Adrianza...who takes the OF?

Hey All,

My guess as to the starting line-up for the Giants today is...

LF Colvin
CF Blanco
RF Pence
3B Sandoval
SS Crawford
2B Panik
1B Posey
C Sanchez

Either that, or Posey behind the dish, with Arias at 1b.

But the question becomes what do the Giants do if one of the OFs get hurt today? I think Arias has taken some OF reps in the past, and I guess Morse could do his best impression of a statue if the Giants just needed a body on the field.

This situation is going to cause the Giants to make a decision/move with one of either Hicks or Adrianza, IMO...either that, or put one of either Pagan or Morse on the 7 day DL. At present, I don't even know what Bochy would do if he wanted to pinch hit for more than 1 pitcher in a game.

And to make matters worse, the guy they would have called up, Juan Perez, is ineligible to be recalled for a week, so the next likely OF call-up would probably be...wait for it...Gary Brown, who is at least on the 40 man.

I saw Gary Brown play last night, and the guy continues to think he's a HR hitter, getting under everything he hits. I'm not sure I've ever seen a kid less capable of understanding the nature of his game.

All I can say is the Giants better hope Bumgarner goes DEEP into today's game, no OFs get hurt, and that Morse's back responds to anti-inflammatories.

Geez...this is starting to feel like 2013 all over again. The Dodgers are getting hot and the Giants are getting hurt.

I thought the same thing but Baggs wrote this today:

quote:

Outfielder Juan Perez, who was optioned to make room for second baseman Joe Panik on Saturday, didn’t leave to join Triple-A Fresno in Texas. Instead he’ll go back to San Francisco just in case the Giants need to bring him back to replace Pagan on the roster.

Got me to thinking maybe there's an exception for an injury rather than just a player move. Or maybe the rule's been changed.

Bottom line is if Baggs is correct, Gary Brown ain't sniffing the big leagues before September.

Hey NLTCrow,

Yeah, I think that's right. I'm glad I was wrong, if that's the case.

Man, I'm becoming very concerned about Pagan. He's been out a week, and Bochy is talking about him being worse off than Morse, still.

This is sounding less and less like lower back stiffness with Pagan. This is sounding like a bulging disc.
