What Giant Do You Most Enjoy Watching....?

Hey All,

Okay...this isn't going to be a groupie thread! So tell me...what Giants player do you most enjoy watching...

While hitting?

For me, it's Buster Posey. Ever since he first came up, he's had a very quiet approach at the plate...and when he's going good, his head doesn't appear to move. And the willingness to go the other way with pitches thrown that direction? Priceless.

Steal a base?

Angel Pagan. The man always has a plan, and he's got incredible body control. I hate to take his speed asa given, but it's the work beyond his speed that really impresses me. A thinking man's CF and leadoff hitter.

Running the bases?

Gregor Blanco. This guy has such a great approach and technique when he rounds the bases. Very efficient, and Blanco rarely overslides.

Play defense?

The easy answer would be Brandon Crawford, but the guy I love to watch is Pablo Sandoval. He's not as smooth as Matty Williams, but DANG, his first step is amazing, and he gives his body up without a thought.

Throw the ball?

Juan Perez. Okay, okay, so he has a sub-zero batting average, but the kid is a walking OF assist. Great field vision, and a powerful arm make him a delight to watch.

What's your take?

Hitting wise it might be because he still has the new car smell, but even though Morse has some bad ABs I find him super exciting to watch just because the threat he can hit it to the next county at any time.

Pitching wise no one beats Madison, but man o man is Huddy fun to watch. I have seen games where he literally threw one ball that wasn't paint.

All around I think Crawford might be the most exciting guy to watch for me currently. He is electric in the field, SUPER clutch with the bat, and seeing a guy who I thought was never going to be a good hitter developing before our eyes is fantastic.

Hey mb,

LOL...you know, I almost went with Morse as being the most fun guy to watch run the bases. He's freaking hilarious to watch, as he's so demonstrative in his joy and/or frustration with himself.

Morse also almost caused me to create a category...the Walk-Up Routine...his Cobra style walk-up (his words, not mine) is hilarious.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a player have so much fun playing the game. Morse was meant to be a Giant.

Regarding Bumgarner...DOH! Yes, great pick. The thing about him is that he pitches with his heart on his sleeve, and is SO old school when it comes to facing guys up...both on the field, and in the media...I can't believe he says some of the things he does to the press with a straight face. Then, you've got his hacks at the plate. You've just got to dig Country Strong!

And Brandon Crawford..the walking highlight reel...the guy simply plays the game the way it was meant to be played...he doesn't try to force plays his body can't make...his understanding of his own abilities is uncanny, which is why he makes the impossible look easy at times. His walk-up music should be Santana's "Smooth".

Hey pachyderm,

LOL...yeah, Hunter Pence is almost a category all by himself. Watching him in real action speed is like watching a herky jerky film of Babe Ruth from the 1930's.

He bends neither his knees nor elbows while playing the game, yet plays it at a level above most.

And then you have his personality...

It's no wonder that Pence and Morse became inseparable from day one.

Re: Re:

Running the Bases -- Hunter Pence -- not just running around the bases, but running from home plate to first - the guy makes every routine ground out a bang-bang play. You've got to love that much hustle and love of game.

Machi this year as a pitcher - his stuff is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind him moving things along between pitches, but the guy has been dealing all season.

Hitting -- I know it's weird but Crawford has a really simple, effective approach and you can see the growth as a hitter every year and he made a big leap this year.

Fielding, I've enjoyed Hicks -- a big surprise and the man can turn a double play -- which is why I shudder a little bit when people call for a change at second. He saves runs and that balances some of his hitting weaknesses.
