6/8/2014 Mets @ GIANTS Gameball and Joker

I'm back from my friend's gig, so I'll be able to give everyone a late write-up tonight.
The Giants continued their assault of the abhorrent National League, as they swept the Mets with a 6-4 win.
They are now 42-21, which is a .667 winning percentage, so they are on pace for 108 wins.
One thing is obvious, these guys are unstoppable right now.

GAMEBALL:

No Pagan? No problem.
Blanco filled in for Pagan in the leadoff sport nicely today, as he got two hits and knocked in three of the Giants' six runs.
His two-run double in the second inning gave the Giants the lead that they held onto for the rest of the day. Then, he hit a shot up the middle—another two-out RBI—to knock in Adrianza in the seventh.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Brandon Crawford: Whose single got the Giants on the board in the second.

Curtis Granderson: Multi-home run games are not very common at AT&T Park, and since John Sterling is no longer around to announce his home runs with a colorful ditty, Granderson gets a tip of the cap.

Sergio Romo: After Javier Lopez walked Lucas Duda to start off the ninth, Romo came and and set the Mets down 1-2-3 with two strikeouts for his 20th save.

JOKER:

Manny Machado

Or as Joe Angel calls him, "Mucho Macho," Manny Machado.
The Joker takes us to Baltimore for the second time in the last three days.
After Machado's fireworks with the A's Friday night, he was back at it today. After taking a couple of close pitcher from Fernando Abad, he passive-aggressively tried to throw his bat back at Abad on the next pitch, but he missed horribly, and it went all the way to the third base umpire, Angel Hernandez.

That was followed by a bit of a donnybrook and the ejections of both Machado and Abad.
Hey, Manny, if you're throwing your bat at the pitcher because he gave you a couple of close pitches, then you need to grow up.
The worst part is that he's setting the bar even lower for Yasiel Puig to try and plummet to.
Also, Machado's idol growing up was Alex Rodriguez, and Rodriguez was his mentor, so that should explain his bizarre behavior. If Machado ever runs into trouble with the law, I'll bet all of my money that he'll imitate his hero by hiring mob lawyer, Joe Tacopina to represent him.

SMACK OF THE STICK: emoticon

Double play RBI rule: The rule that prevents a batter who grounds into a double play from getting an RBI is preposterous. That's how Michael Morse knocked in a run in the third. He had runners at first and third with nobody out. If Sandoval got picked off at first, and then Morse grounded out to third, Morse would've gotten an RBI.
Hopefully, that will be changed in a couple of years.

Hey sfg13,

I don't know that I agree on the RBI on a DP take. Producing 2 outs shouldn't be rewarded in any way, shape, or form, IMO.

I see your [sign in to see URL] a batter is awarded an RBI on a sac fly, which produces an out, then how can producing 2 outs while generating a run not result in an RBI? Especially if the run is the game [sign in to see URL] produces a tie?

[sign in to see URL] I said so!....;+)........

Hey, that answer always worked for my [sign in to see URL] far as she knew...

Hey zebra,

"What makes you the dictator of baseball? "

I'm not the dictator of baseball. I'm the [sign in to see URL]'s the way we do things here in Texas.

Weren't you paying attention during the Bush years?...;+)......

Yes, I was, and I do know that you do things quite differently down in the Republic.

That's what I call Texas now.
