6/7/2014 Mets @ GIANTS Gameball and Joker

The Giants pulled off another miraculous win.
They were down 4-1, but they scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning, and then two more in the ninth that won it in spectacular fashion.
The Giants are 41-21, and they are 20 games over .500 in June for the first time since 2003. They also improve their lead to nine-and-a-half games over the Dodgers.

GAMEBALL:

Angel Pagan

Greg Papa and Shawn Estes asked after the game whether Pagan is the best leadoff hitter in baseball right now, and the simple answer is yes.
Pagan got the Giants to within one when he singled in a pair of runs in the sixth inning, and then he scored the tying run after he reached base on a dropped third strike to leadoff the bottom of the ninth.
When he gets on, you know he's going to score, and he should be well on his way to his first All-Star Game appearance.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Hunter Pence: Who, like Pagan had three hits, and he roped the game-tying double down the left field line in the ninth.
He's 12-for-39 since he got his scooter back.

Michael Morse: Who hit the longest single on the year to win it for the Giants' fourth walk-off win of the year.
Morse will very likely join Pagan in Minneapolis for his first All-Star Game.

JOKER:

Tim Hudson

There's no doubt that this was his worst start of the year. He simply just didn't have anything working for him tonight, and consequently, tagged him for nine hits, and they knocked him out after the fifth.

SMACK OF THE STICK: emoticon

Buster Posey: This was certainly a rough night for him. He grounded into a double play with the bases loaded in the fifth, and then he struck out with the bases loaded to end the sixth.

Bartolo Colon: How the hell did Peter Griffin manage to be able to pitch into his 40s?

Joe West: The game didn't go extra innings, are you happy now?

Hey sfg13,

I've got a special place in my heart for any pitcher who comes to the yard with nothing going for him, and still manages to give his club 5 IP, while only surrendering 3 runs.

If this is as bad a start as we get from Huddy in 2014, I'll be elated.

The guy who irritated me was Kontos, who allowed the Mets to extend their lead by a run after Hudson had blanked them in the 4th and 5th.

All in all, though, a great team win for the Giants.

I'm back, anyway, Kontos is awful, and don't worry, Kontos will be gone once Casilla returns.

Hey sfg13,

Sorry for not being here to take the baton for today's post. It's my birthday, so my wife and I went out for the evening.

Hey sfg13,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My wife and I have birthdays within a couple weeks of each other, so we did a joint present this [sign in to see URL] big screen and a new piece of furniture to hang it [sign in to see URL] yesterday we just went out to dinner at one of my favorite steak places, then came home for a double fudge brownie cake with vanilla ice cream.

The two dogs even got a scoop of vanilla, each!

Yum!
