Could Tyler Beede catch Kyle Crick?
Hey All,
Given the fact Tyler Beede is an advanced college pitcher, and 21 years old, I expect he'll probably start his pro career at Augusta in 2015. Given his velocity and polish, though, I could see the Giants moving him to San Jose pretty quickly if he can get some of his control issues squared away over the Winter and the first half of 2015.
Crick will likely start the 2015 campaign in Fresno, which should be interesting...so there is likely to be at least 2 developmental levels between he and Beede to start the season, and that may be the level of separation at the end of the 2015 campaign, as well.
But I think there'd be value to having the tow of them work together, given their gross similarities in velocity, issues with control, and age. I think they could help each other grow at an accelerated rate.
Without any undue interference, though, Crick and Beede may never play on the same MiLB team...their first convergence may be in SF. I guess I'm hoping the club will figure out a way to get these two pitchers working out together.

Re: Could Tyler Beede catch Kyle Crick?
Hey All,
After watching Tyler Beede in the CWS game against UC Irvine last night, the answer to my question is "No...Tyler Beede is not likely to catch up to Kyle Crick in the minors."
I'll be shocked if the Giants start him above Augusta, and given his mechanical/command issues, he'll probably be there for the entire 2015 season.
I started a separate thread on "Nuke" Beede's start against UCI.
