I'm glad someone else is tracking Matt Duffy. He came up on my screen last year, and I got to see him play in the Futures game this Spring. I have always had a thing for MI, so me getting excited about him has to be taken with a grain of salt. I liked Joe Strain, for heaven's sake! But yeah, I like Matt Duffy a lot, and with both Arroyo and Ryder Jones potential 2B options in a few years, Joe Panik knocking on the door, and Crawford making the SS position his own, keeping Adrianza in the fold might have to take a backseat to the Giants having a second UI who can actually hit for a .250+ average. I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I hope the Giants can engineer a deal for Martin Prado from AZ....yeah, yeah, but probably no less likely than a deal with Philly for Utley. quote:Trade him, DFA him, keep him on the roster as long as we're winning just don't let him get in the way because I think this year we are seeing something special as far as the team and where they are going. Yeah...and the add of a veteran looking for a ring at the Trade Deadline would add some more passion and excitement to the clubhouse/dugout mix. And if he could have been traded he would already be gone, we're stuck with no trade leverage. As long as we're winning at a .600 clip I am beyond caring, Crawford has picked up his game, he is going to get an extension when he reaches his first year of Arb next year, and Matt Duffy is flying past Ehire as air-apparent/backup. Trade him, DFA him, keep him on the roster as long as we're winning just don't let him get in the way because I think this year we are seeing something special as far as the team and where they are going. nondisclosed_email@example.com (fitdy eight giants)Mon, 09 Jun 2014 08:52:43 +0000 What to do with Ehire?https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p590175,from=rss#post590175https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p590175,from=rss#post590175Hey All, So how do we see the Ehire Adrianza experiment playing out through the end of 2014? Should the Giants... Keep the kid on the 25 man, and just hope he figures out which end of the bat to hold by next Spring. Risk losing him on a waiver claim by trying to send him down to Fresno with no remaining option years...remember, he could be withdrawn from the waiver wire once, but a second time, there's no take-backs. Look to deal him to a club where he could add on-field value today, and try to get another prospect...perhaps a power corner OF bat currently at A or AA...in return. I think the Giants should try to deal him. With Crawford becoming an exceptional all-around SS, and the Giants having so many high draft picks invested in 2B, I think dealing Adrianza for an OF who's not as far into his development would be the best way to go. What do you think? Chimpsnondisclosed_email@example.com (ChimpsDigTheLongBall)Thu, 05 Jun 2014 15:47:36 +0000
