5/14/2014 Braves @ GIANTS Gameball and Joker

The Giants beat the Braves 10-4 on a rare hot day in San Francisco to take the series.

It was hot, but very fun at the old ballpark, as the Giants clubbed three home runs, and with Colorado's loss, the Giants took a three-and-a-half game lead in the National League West.

Hunter Pence

Pence is starting to get hot, as he took full-advantage of the Coors Field-like conditions of the ballpark today.
In his first at bat, he hit a home run out to right-center field, over the 24-foot high wall, and I can't ever remember a right-handed hitter hitting one there.
He then went on to go 4-for-5, and he knocked in another run with a base-hit in the bottom of the fifth inning.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Pablo: Is he starting to get hot? The Panda went 2-for-3 today, as he knocked in the go-ahead run in the fourth inning, and he mixed in a sick diving stop in the second.
Who knows, maybe he will make me eat crow for the millionth time.

Brandon Crawford: Crawford hit the third Giants' home run, a bullet into the water for the third splash hit of the season. The last time the Giants had three splash hits on May 14 was 2000.
This is also the first time since April 12-13, 2004 that the Giants have hit two splash hits in a series. Of course, those last ones were Bonds' 660th and 661st home runs.
Back to Crawford, he went 3-for-5, and while he's not known for his offense, I think he deserves to be an All-Star for his defense.

Gregor Blanco: Who got a rare start, and he stole three bases, but more importantly scored three runs.

Jean Machi: Who continued his dominance, as he pitched two perfect innings.
Machi has pitched in 20-and-a-third innings, and his ERA is [sign in to see URL].

JOKER:

B.J. Upton

First off, I do think the called third strike to him was outside, and I do think that Lance Barrett had too quick of a hook with him, but B.J. Upton is definitely one of those guys who will always put up a fuss when he's called out on strikes, no matter where the pitch is.
This is the eighth time that Upton has been tossed, and this is the sixth time it's been for a called third strike.

SMACK OF THE STICK: emoticon

Julio Teheran: I think it's safe to say that he didn't have it. The Giants lit him up, and they almost got him out of the game in the first inning.

All-Star Ballots: They're back in the ballpark once again, and they're too damn addicting. Every year, I take a million of those bad boys home with the urge to make an impact on the All-Star starting lineup. I end up voting on 10 of them, and then I waste the rest.

One nit to pick. I think Gregor's three runs scored are more important than three bases stolen, but I certainly like both.

Re: Re:

Thanks for pointing that out, I meant to write it the other way.

BTW, I hope you're a safe distance away from the fires, and I bet the skies are incredibly polluted.
