5/3/2014 GIANTS @ Braves Gameball and Joker

We beat the Chop 3-1, thanks to three solo home runs.
Belt, Posey and all went deep, and Ryan Vogelsong was strong over six innings, We're 19-11, and we have a chance to sweep a series in Atlanta for the first time since 1988.

Make that back-to-back good starts by Vogey, as he allowed just one run through six innings tonight, and he struck out six. However, he was in and out of trouble throughout the night, yet he still got the win.
The changes he made to his mechanics are encouraging, but he's going to need to be consistently like this for two months if I'm going to think he'll be pivotal down the stretch.
It's nice to see him have a good outing and get the win, but my bet is that we're going to see a good handful of bad outings to go along with his good ones.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Brandon Belt: Who finally broke out of his slump, as he clubbed his eighth home run of the year.

Buster Posey: Buster had a two-hit night, and one of those hits was another home run.

Michael Morse: Morse joined Belt with eight home runs, when he clubbed one out to left-center in the seventh.

Jean Machi: Who continued his strong start with a 1-2-3 eighth inning. His ERA is now [sign in to see URL].

Sergio Romo: His slider was working tonight, as he cruised through a 1-2-3 inning to close this one out.

The Rockies won a Coors Field classic tonight, but why did I give them the joker? Well, here's your answer.
The Mets jumped off to an early 6-0 lead, but the Rockies scored eight runs in the fifth, and it brought up the old question of whether the Rockies were tampering with their humidor.
Everyone should remember when the Giants finally snitched on them in 2010, but the humidor has been out of the news since, and with the fact that the Rockies have a good team this year, you have to wonder if they may be trying these old antics again.

Hunter Pence: After he finally came alive in this previous home stand, he's 1-for-8 to kickoff this trip.

Rest of the Offense: Of course Belt, Posey and Morse hit home runs, but they were also the only three guys that got hits tonight.
