4/6/2014 GIANTS @ Dodgers Gameball and Joker

A sweep of the Hated Ones would've been great, but I'm not going to scoff at going 5-2 in the first week.
The Giants are off to their best start since 2010, and there were a lot of positives to take out of last night's game. Brandon Belt of course already has four home runs, and the Giants have hit 11 home runs in their first seven games. The Giants didn't hit their 11th home run until their 19th game last year. Anyway, we still won the series, and I am psyched about the Home Opener.

GAMEBALL:

I'm telling you right now, this is going to be the year he finally breaks out. After three years of painfully brutal starts, he is completely on fire to start this season. He's hitting .323, and he already has four home runs, which puts him on pace for 92—of course he won't hit 92, but it's still pretty cool.
If he keeps this up, he will definitely hit over 20 home runs, and who knows, maybe he'll be an All-Star.

TIP OF THE CAP: emoticon

Angel Pagan: Angel continued his strong start last night, as he singled on the first pitch of the game, and he had another hit later on.

Juan Gutierrez: After his first outing in which he looked like the reincarnation of Guillermo Mota, he has been impressive, and he pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning tonight.

Hunter Pence: It looks like his clean shave may have brought along some mojo, as he hit his first home run of the year.

I'll admit, I'm concerned. After having the worst year of his career last year, he's off to another poor start this year. Just like Tuesday night in Arizona, he was rattled around. He served up four home runs, and his velocity is noticeably down. If he can't pitch well against the Rockies at AT&T in his next start on Saturday, then I will really be concerned.

SMACK OF THE STICK: emoticon

Pablo: Whose slow start continues, as he took an 0-for-4.

ESPN: How do I politely say that these guys are an utter joke? They make teams on the west coast play games in the shadows, which makes it impossible to hit for the first four innings, and they keep using their infuriating backstop cams for at bats, including Pence's home run last night. Then if it couldn't get any worse, they showed a 30-second clip narrated by Jon Hamm about how much they love the Dodgers, who have gotten ESPN's first two Sunday Night games. Well, I guess if atrocious baseball coverage will ring in the money for these networks, that's what they'll continue to preach.

Brian Wilson: If he wasn't in the dugout wearing a uniform, he'd likely be the next guy standing out on King St. claiming his family was kidnapped by ninjas.

Just a slight correction. It is 11 homers.

Only mention it because this will be probably

be the last day or so the Giants will lead

the majors in team HR.

Yes, sfg some of us are still lurking around.
