Re: power in the lineup

That's a lot of "ifs". As currently constructed, I am happy with this lineup. But if one of the outfielders (or starting pitchers) goes down for a significant period, then we are screwed. See 2012 with Vogey and Pagan.

This has to do with the lack of impact bats and depth. It appears that Sabean is banking on good health (and bounce back years from Cain, Timmy, and Vogey) and operating under the theory that 2012 was an anomaly.

I'm pretty sure Cain will bounce back. He will have two extra months of rest coming into the season (no postseason and the time spent on the DL). I think Vogey could, but I'm not as confident in him as I am in Cain, and I do not expect much from Lincecum.

I do think we'll be back in contention, but I do not get why Sabean seems to think that the 2012 team is the magic formula. I even said after we won it all that we needed changes, then after the same team gave us a losing season, he's once again for whatever reason keeping the entire team.
