Now what?
9 games under .500 and 7.5 back in the division with no WC hopes. What do you do? Who is available?
For me:
Lincy, Pence, Zito (not sure if there is trade stuff there - sure there is though), Scutaro, Sandoval (yep, I went there), Casilla, Lopez, and Romo are all available in my book. Lets get some kind of youth going in system no matter who we trade. Build around Cainer, Posey, MadBum and the other youth players and see what happens. Look bad for a couple and get the farm going and start another run.
Maybe an over reaction to the crap on the field this year - but man this season sucks.
--- Hummmm Baby...... Go Giants
One in the hand is ALWAYS better than two in the bush, unless a #3 and #4 hitters are lurking in the bushes.

I don't mind giving up on THIS season, but I don't want to endanger NEXT season with trades now. The problem this season is the same as in 2011 : lots and lots of injuries. There's no reason this team can't take it all in 2014.
Timmy and Pence are FAs, and if we make them a QO (Qualifying Offer), we get a sandwich pick for each, after the first round. (I don't expect either to accept a one year contract for ~$13M.) So any trades would have to be "1st round draft pick quality". If so, jump on it.
Zito, Scutaro, Panda have no trade value at the moment. Zero, Zilch, Nada. And Panda might rebound next year (off-season to recover {and lose weight} as well as it being his contract year).
Romo and Casilla are signed for 2014, I'd rather keep them.
That leave Lopez, who should have value. He's a machine, he deals, and he's death to LHB. He is also going to be expensive to resign, seeing how reliever prices jumped after the new CBA went into effect. Look at what Affeldt got.
So Lopez, and Pence are the two who might get traded away, I think. Both can get a real nice return from a needy team. I would say that Lopez would be the one most likely to be traded, as there's no way the Giants are offering him $13M, so they won't get a draft pick for him.

Re:
Totally, Marco. You don't blow up a team that just won the WS. We're not the Marlins.

Re: Now what?
Sabes should be selling Timmy as a long relief/closer. Giants would be getting the most in return from a team wishing to use him in that role.

Only if he get better than a #30 draft pick back. Otherwise, ofer him a QO after the season and take the pick.

If he was smart, he'd take the QO. ($14M I believe?) Talk about being a FA at the absolutely worst possible time in your career. He's still been horrible this year in my book. Ks are great, but mix in a quality start for god's sake.
