Thrilla in Manilla
On this day. And this Mark Kram article captured it: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1090341/index.htm

Re:
Yeah: I think so. Next step: Tigers/Giants WS. A long order, only because the Tigers have a tall objective.

Re: Re:
Good luck man, I've been following their games, and wishing them well even though I dislike Fielder.
And thanks for that article, I read it all.
It was very well written IMO, and I enjoyed it.

Re:
Never has a division-clinching experience been this underwhelming. Tigers were expected to win the ALC by 161.5 games and all I see are the gaps that this team has that seem too wide to close. Worst defense in MLB, a bullpen filled with steers, a bench thinner than saran wrap and a manager with the capacity to shrink his brain to the size of a bb in the most critical situations. Cap that with the #2 arm (and the best on the Tigers' staff in the last three months) on the sidelines and I have little reason to believe that this stagger to the top of the ALC has only earned the Tigers an additional four games (if Verlander throws a complete-game, three-hit shutout in under 115 pitches.)

Re: Thrilla in Manilla
The Scherzer situation is a total buzzkill for me.
I don't see how they get past that problem, so I'm hoping for his magical return.

Re:
There's the added possibility of a Yankees-Rangers play-in game. That would be exponentially fun to watch for obvious reasons.
