GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at ROCKIES 08/02

Well that was strange…a game 97% free of Torture…..in Colorado no less…… you know this team is on a roll when an big win to start a big August road trip…..well….feels like a no brainer…..

GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at ROCKIES 08/02

And the perfect pitcher for tonights game was Sanchez… the combination of easy delivery, swing and miss stuff and shaky control was enough to put everyone to sleep waiting for action…….you look up and it’s the 6th before he gets into real trouble and then he just wriggles off the hook…….This kid's arm is just freaking amazing…… and tonight he was on…..or as on as he is lately…..6 innings with 3 hits and 4 walks and 9 K's…..including those 7 in a row…..who is guy???? 27 years old and we are still waiting for his to put it all together and dominate the league……but really, do you expect him to get any better???? Trying to find leftie comps to Jonathan, I look at the two stats that stand out…..through age 27

JSanchez 541 1/3 IP got 565 K's (9.4 K/9) and 278 BB's (4.6 BB/9)……

Koufax 1442 2/3 IP got 1474 K's (9.2 K/9) and 616 BB's (3.8 BB/9)

The Unit 607 2/3 IP got 577 K's (8.5 K/9) and 375 BB's (5.6 BB/9)

El Sid 1212 1/3 IP got 1153 K's (8.6 K/9) and 491 BB's (3.6 BB/9)

OPerez 1065 1/3 IP got 1089 K's (8.2 K/9) and 586 BB's (5.0 BB/9)

Each of those pitchers had their control battles when they were young, and in the case of Oliver Perez he is still having those issues…….
The 1 thing that jumps out at me is each one of those players put together at least 1 FULL SEASON better than anything Jonathan has done so far……by 27 Koufax and Sid Fernandez had mostly conquered their control issues but both were only effective for a short time……
At age 27 Randy was "wild, but effective" until age 29 where he really came around…..
So what's the point of all this??? well, mental masturbation as always……but despite his continued struggles Jonathan is actually putting together a season BETTER than Randy Johnson did at age 27……and has BETTER CONTROL than Randy at this age……who knows if Jonathan finally puts it together……but despite our frustration watching all this potential……there is still a chance that he does put it all together…just who knows when, where, or if…..

TIP OF THE CAP :
TORRES
Got the party started with a single and collected 3 hits in total

POSEY
Came back from an 0-2 count in the first to run the count full before stroking a RBI single to right……Collected 3 hits and a walk

ISHI
The 3rd Player with 3 hits on the night including one of those RBI singles in the 1st

PAT
Blistered a RBI Single in the first and a BOMB to left in the 3rd

FSANCHEZ
HOMERED??? The humidor must be off…..and a fine play on a CarGo liner with the bases juiced to end the 7th….

LOPEZ
Picked up Ramirez and Sanchez in the 7th……

RAMIREZ
Welcome to the Giants

RAY
Clean innings

CASILLA
Limited the walks to 1 =)

DODGERS…..

This keeps getting better and better……no write up last night, so I am ok going back to rehash…….How in the HELL do you go 5 for 5 and be the jackass??? So by now everyone heard Bowa ripping the Dodgers and Kemp……to which Kemp responded "There's more there," Kemp said. "I agree. It's something I need to sit here and think about and then change."…..Well, Kemp should do less thinking and more running as he became the goat of the Padres 10-5 rout when he failed to hustle on a would be RBI Single only to fail to score when Loney got tagged out going to third……the Dodgers had 7 hits in the first 3 innings and did not score…..and 0-0 going into the 4th, the Padres put up a 5 spot with the help of some shoddy infield defense……..The Dodgers walked around the field like a beaten team, and even Vin Scully had to throw in a comment……now this is I think after Kemps 4th hit of the night……."Its hard to believe that a player with Kemp's speed failed to score on that play"…which is as close as the Classiest Dodger would get to calling Kemp a jackass…..and Kemp's Mea Culpa? "I probably should have ran a little bit harder, and then we wouldn't be talking about that right now."…….Yeah, didn't we hear something like that BEFORE the game too…..talk is cheap……Kemp is one bad ass Mo Fo in the field and with the bat, but he is about 17 cheezeburgers and 5 gallons of ice cream away from being Andruw Jones…….You think Rihanna wants to hit that? Nah, at that point the best celebrity tang you gonna get is Nell Carter

SMACK OF THE STICK : Image
RAMIREZ
Welcome to the Giants, so walking people already? Did Rags get a hold of you?

RENT
Ended the streak of 5 straight runners on base, and the only player in the starting lineup without a hit…..and that INCLUDES the Jonathan who singled in the 1st…..

(The fine print: There will be cussing and bad taste. This is written with the heat of the moment feel you may have during the game, with rational thought sprinkled in now and then. This is entertainment folks, sure there is a lot of truth and I am a genius, but this is all about having a laugh and enjoying the ride…….now lets go heckle Jeff Kent in when he gets inducted to Cooperstown..)
