GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> METS at GIANTS 07/16

A day after a late run made a 1-0 into a 2-0 victory, the Giants finally broke through with a 1 run win……and I mean a win with pitching pitching pitching…… this team was built to win 1-0, 2-1, and 2-0 and like I said yesterday uwe did not have a single 1-0 victory until tonight….……the kind that harkens back to the days of Gibson, Marichal, and Koufax……the Giants are now 3-6 in games that ended with 1-0, 2-0, and 2-1…. for comparisons sake the Padres are 9-3 in those same type of games……I will leave that stat up to you for interpretation……

Man, what the !@#$ was that all about…..after an early exit in his last turn, Barry comes up LARGE with 8 shutout innings with 10 strikeouts…..and if not the walk to Turner with 2 out in the 8th he might have stayed in for the duration…..It was his best start of the year, and the second time he has gone 8 scoreless and hit the 10 K mark this year….The only two games he has gone 8 with 10K's in a Giants uniform was this year, and before this year, he only hit double digit strikeouts once since donning the French Vanilla……man, that was just !@#$ filthy…..I don't know how much of it was the Mets sucking, the Ump giving calls, or Zito dealing……but I tell you one thing…..you don't have a game like that without kicking some serious ass…….to put this into a little perspective lets look at the ]Bill James game score…. Tonight's start was an 86, the ONLY start in his career that was higher was ]August 20, 2001 vs the Indians….where he notched a 88 in a 4 hit shutout….maybe I am wrong and maybe that ace we saw in April is still alive somewhere in there…maybe he did come out of the all star break fresh and recharged….… or maybe ]he has a new pre game meal whatever it is……I would be the happiest wrongest man on the planet if that turns out to be true…..

TIP OF THE CAP : --Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
HUFF
3 singles and a walk…..and scored the lone run……and much like Huff it wasn’t the prettiest collection of hits…..and neither was the dash home as he looked more like a beer league softball player about to blow out a hammy after having a few too many and pushing that old body a little too hard…..well, it turned out to be the only run of the game, and was good for the W…..

WILSON
came in, got two quick outs before a single and an umpire aided 3-1 call…..hey, the zone was wide for both teams…..and a Save means we Won……

POSEY
After bouncing into a DP with a runner on 3rd, he set up another runner at 3rd with less than two out…..and this time he scored……

BURRELL
Lost a pop up in the lights, but had the game winning groundout??? Hey, you take what you can get…..and when you don’t give UP anything, you don’t have to get much……

JOKER

TORRES
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Hard to get two down on this team, despite the lack of offensive production……but of all the candidate for Joker, it has to be Torres…..back in the lineup was nice to see, but pulling in a 0 fer 4 with 2 K's versus the Leftie leaves to door open to a possible platoon…….good to see him healthy, but when you are a too old to be a prospect, and have no major league track record to speak of, the leash is short….you need to stay healthy and stay hitting, or you might get displaced by an overpaid jackass…..or worse yet, Sabean could see it as a need and overpay for someone like David DeJesus……..so get it in gear Andres……we don't want to see the alternative…..

SMACK OF THE STICK : --Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
FSANCHEZ
Right after I start singing your praises, you go missing……just the flu?...ok, I will cut him some slack….unless Flu is code for Knee or Shoulder…..wouldn't be the first time the Giant org misled us…..

PABLO
Wasn't even in the lineup versus the leftie….and didn't really do much to earn more time with 1 hit 4 AB's with a total of 9 Pitches……

URIBE
Just as hacky as Pablo taking the 0 fer…..

(The fine print: There will be cussing and bad taste. This is written with the heat of the moment feel you may have during the game, with rational thought sprinkled in now and then. This is entertainment folks, sure there is a lot of truth and I am a genius, but this is all about having a laugh and enjoying the ride…….now lets go heckle Jeff Kent in when he gets inducted to Cooperstown..)

Pablo was 1-3 and lined out to Beltran in his 2nd AB. Ripped the 1B too

Pablo's swing looks a lot better so far. Only 2 hits, but he's finally letting the ball get deep. Guess he was watching Posey from the dugout one too many times.

No funny comment about Bengie hitting for the cycle? (and injuring himself while legging out the triple?)

I am sooooo disappointed. Your "gameball" threads are often the highlight of my (baseball) day!
