GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/09
Wow, what a weird !@#$ series…..wind swirling, leads changing…...the Giants coulda swept….but are lucky to get out of there avoiding a sweep……and Today's win snapped a 9 game Home Winning Streak and during which they swept the Dodgers and Cubs, and prior to that took 3 of 4 from the Cubbies…..
GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/09
GAMEBALL
WILSON
Hard to upstage a late homer that turns a 1 run deficit into a lead…..but with the way late innings have gone for the Giants in New York, and with Wilson's performance….well…. he took the ball with 1 out in the 8th and took over from there……5 outs…..5 K's….teh one guy that did manage to a fair ball popped it up…..for a wind aided Double to lead off the 9th…..but that didn't faze that weird ass !@#$ closer…..he just shoved the ball right up the Mets ass…..with a little help from the home plate umpire……good job… and congrats on that GAMEBALL
TIP OF THE CAP :
ROWAND
Don't know what got into this guy, but he has been lights out the whole road trip…..maybe the blow to the head knocked something loose…..maybe riding the pine refocused his game…..I don't know, but hope he keeps it rolling……
URIBE
5 PA, 0 AB… that 4 walks and a HBP……
TIMMY
Did enough to get the W……..
DOWNS
Continues to look like a player……
BOWKER
Worked the difficult walk to set up Rowand
DALLAS BRADEN
Tip the cap to the Leftie across the bay….gotta like this guy……He's a Red Ass and he just threw a perfecto…..too bad noone was there to see it….$2 crack rock night is on Tuesdays not Sundays…..
JOKER
TORRES
What the !@#$??? Good day at the plate was overshadowed by one of the ugliest Non-Freddie Lewis plays I have ever seen…..took a full 5 steps back, before realizing he was nowhere near the ball…I am watching this thinking…..Man, he sure is getting a running start at that throw home for the Sac Fly…..and then…..WHAT THE !@#$???? Its not like you haven't seen wind before…..if you don't know you freeze until you know…..and from the trajectory off the bat there was no way that was going out unless a hurricane wind was blowing straight in your face…..and then when you did realize you had no chance, keep your feet …the runners were tagging and you can prevent the tying run from scoring from second and the lead run from advancing to 3rd…..yes a split second play…..but a play that needs to be made….and this JOKER blew it big time…..
SMACK OF THE STICK :
ROMO
Was on the mound AGAIN for a blown Timmy W…..not really his fault….but then again…..he coulda don’t like Wilson and just strike everyone out…..
RUNZLER
Oh man, all over the place again…… raw talent……guess that’s what you get when you rush a kid through 5 levels in 1 year…….
URIBE
Let his frustration get into his head on the Error, and then didn't call off Rowand on Bay's double……
WRIGHT
Yes, you have a right to be upset, but it was close enough to be called…and your antics basically made sure that the pitch was going to get called for Davis behind you as well….and Wilson went back there on a couple more close pitches and got the calls…..whatcha mean that’s not a strike….see he keeps calling it…..dumbass

Well done, Merk.
I will add that Romo got 5 outs that inning and those runs weren't his fault. That squarely lies with Runzler and Torres doing his best clown rendition out there.

Re: GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/09
Being at the game, when the ball was hit initially it looked like one that would get near the track. It was hit high but the trajectory was more of a flyball. I was amazed at how short the ball actually went. The wind was blowing hard straight in from left, and I had told a few people around me that I didn't think anything was going out there, but it still shocked me. Granted, Torres should have played it better, but it looked like the ball hit a brick wall. It reminded me of hitting a wiffle golf ball straight into a gust of wind.

Thanks for the in-person take.
The camera angles on TV didn't /couldn't show what you just pointed out because they were from behind home plate/first baseline. I just saw the ball going up and away.
Sounds like you had a side view of it wherein you could see how it looked. Or a better viewing angle of some other sort.
A tougher play than we at home could tell.
Just out of curiosity, Where were you sitting?

I'm willing to cut Torres some slack on that ball, I mean if that was Freddy out there he probably would've ran all the way to the track before remembering to factor in the wind...lol
