GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/08
"Giants Baseball….. Torture……" -Duane Kuiper
And this is what you call a tease…..again….
Today….
Looks a lot like yesterday…..
A whole lot of suck, followed by some back and forth tease……ended abruptly by suck…..
GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/08
GAMEBALL
HUFF
Slim pickens today, so I will go with the game tying single with two out in the 8th….wasn't a thing of beauty…..but got the ball squared up and found the hole to tie the game….add a sac fly to get the Giants first run and he gets two RBI's for the day….although I woulda preferred a 3 run bomb in that situation…..nonetheless, you can't take a sac fly for granted and that first run is the hardest…………today, that’s enough for a GAMEBALL….
TIP OF THE CAP :
AFFELDT
Now THAT'S what I am talking about…..Affeldt was spot on with his nasty !@#$ today and he prolonged the Giants agony with 2 brilliant innings…..even pitching through 2 wind aided singles that could have screwed with any pitchers head……lets hope Jeremy can keep this edge, cause when he is on…. no one is better……
MEDDERS
Took the ball from Wellemeyer and put together a very nice outing, keeping the Giants in the game….. the highlight for him had to be breaking down David Wright's swing for a check swing strikeout……
NATE
Got the game tying rally started with a pinch hit single down the 3rd base line…..
DOWNS
Only 1 hit, but got good wood a couple times and used up 18 of Santana pitch count in 3 PA….including an 11 pitch AB….
WHITESIDE
Came in relief of Molina and collected a couple hits in the cleanup spot…..
URIBE
Singled in the 2nd run and made a bad ass diving play in the 2nd saving 2 more runs…..
JOKER
SUCKEMEYER
Man, I can't remember ever watching a Giants game and hoping the Opposition gets to our bullpen……Wellemeyer had little command….no, scratch that……NOTHING….no idea where his stuff was going like 90% of the time…..5 walks, 1 HBP… Hell I think when he actually DID get something across the plate it was likely an accident……Put this guy in the pen before he does any more damage.. !@#$ JOKER….. at least with someone else there may be hope….Maybe reclaimation project Eric Hacker…..… Lets check the scouting report……27 year old Former Yankee Farmhand …Missed 04 with TJ and 06 with Shoulder Surgery ….works in the 87-92 range and can touch 95mph, live sinker is best secondary pitch…also features a curve, change, and slider….needs to mix pitches to be successful….hmmmm, well so far in Fresno his numbers are eye popping and out of line with his career…..5-0… 31K's in 28IP??? only 5 walks in a hitters league??? keep your eyes open, he is on the same rotation day as Wellemeyer…..although they would need to clear a spot on the 40 man….
SMACK OF THE STICK :
BOCHY
What do you do with your hottest hitter???? Move his UP the lineup….not OUT of the lineup…..Nate was out of the lineup with Derosa in Left and Torres in right…..yeah Derosa kills lefties, but I hate seeing a hot hand ride pine….and Nate hits lefties well (don't you Listen to Kruk and Kuip?) of course Derosa can't take a day off, even through he is struggling at the plate (don’t you read Baggs?) and has his limited range exposed in this big yard……
DEROSA
Speaking of… man….Swung at ball 4 after it hit the mitt to strike out in the 2nd…..Popped up on a first pitch fastball in the 4th …..rolled over changeup outside off the plate in the 7th……actually made decent contact on a blooping pop for an out to right to lead off the 9th….the a soft liner to 2nd in the 11th, sorry Krukow, not a seed not a rocket..a soft liner……and then my personal favorite….the Belly Flop Dive in the 2nd that got you…within about 50 feet of catching the ball…..Good Job Derosa…..do us all a favor and do some wrist exercises before you come back…..and I don't mean the kind that Zito does while looking at himself in a GQ Spread….
MOTA
Give up a walk off, end up on the wrong side of the ledger…..but wasn’t a floater….thigh high heat on the hands……just got beat…..
MANUEL
Dude, the Felipe Alou impression with the relievers gave up 2 runs and sent you into extras….Blanco saved your ass with that HR…..coulda been a 14 innings game with the way the Giants pen has been pitching……

(The fine print: There will be cussing and bad taste. This is written with the heat of the moment feel you may have during the game, with rational though sprinkled in now and then. This is entertainment folks, sure there is a lot of truth and I am a genius, but this is all about having a laugh and enjoying the ride…….now lets go heckle Jeff Kent in when he gets inducted to Cooperstown..)

1. Panda needs a day off.
2. Nate needs to play regularly.
3. DeRosa needs MANY days off.
4. When Torres plays, he should lead off NOT Nadz!
5. Wellemeyer needs to be DFA'd.

--- Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

1. Nate needs to play everyday, especially against LHP since he hits LHP better, Bucket Head still hasn't figured out how to look up a players splits.
2. John Bowker should be starting in LF, if not full time platooned with DeRosa or Torres.
3. Matt Downs needs to stay at 2nd when Sanchez and Renteria return. Downs has earned the spot and until he proves otherwise he needs to be planted there.
