The Jam....England's Greatest Export of the late 70's-Early 80's

Yep they are. In fact one of the greatest British bands to walk this earth. Judge by how many of their albums and singles charted in their short 6 year career. Saw them at The Warfield in 1982 and was awstruck with their power. Weller solo is another matter though......................

Love The Jam. Big on The Clash & English Beat as well.

[sign in to see URL] Clash is the superior group.

Re: …

I gotta throw in with The Clash. So much of the English stuff had such a huge Fashion component, where as the Clash was anti-all of it.

The Jam, The Clash, & The Specials all were solid bands from that era. The Specials were the forefront of the two-tone ska movement in the late 70's and early 80's.

Unfortunately, all three bands ended well before their time.

NorCal James, I [sign in to see URL] 3 bands were the soundtrack of my youth. For me it will always be The Clash as my first band I fell in love with, but The Jam were what i cut my teeth on.

Here is Paul Weller's new singles off of his new album that just came out. This is the acoustic version

Hated the Style Council, Like a lot of Weller's recent solo work, and as far as the Jam goes, one of my favorite all-time bands. In fact, the "Sound Affects" album is in my top ten albums of all time. Good call Kenny

The title simply states that they were one of the greatest exports of the LATE 70's and early 80's. If you look at their chart sucess then you'd know.
