The Official Clean House Thread.
Not that I'm advocating keeping both Bochy and Sabean for next year, but does anybody know of any situation where a team replaced both their GM and their manager at the same time and went on to contend the next year? For a team that ended up exceeding expectations, I wonder if a big overhaul would be a step back or would it boost the team to the next level?
Guys I want to keep: Uribe, Penny (to take RJ's spot)
Guys I want to see gone: Winn/Molina (thanks guys, but your time is up), Lewis/Frandsen (sorry, time to start fresh somewhere else)
Guys I want to get: Holliday/Bay (Holliday because he's younger, but Bay may be a little cheaper)
Guys I'm up in the air about: Sanchez (bargain extension 2yr/$10)

The Official Clean House Thread.
A Pablo/Holiday/Fielder middle of the order is pretty tempting regardless of what it would take to acquire.
The closest thing I came up with to a wholesale change of management followed by immediate success was the Marlins in 2002-2003. Loria and Beinfest took over in 2002 and in 2003 replaced Torborg with McKeon, and we all now what happened about 6 months later.

I want Whiteside + Posey @ C
Throw a billion dollars at Holiday. I don't care if it's 7/140. Just !@#$ do it. It's not MY money.
Pickup Freddy's option. It's only 8M people. That's Randy Winn's salary right there. If he hits like he always does, it'll look much better than Velez @2B. Yes, I like Velez. But he's no batting champ and allstar, sorry.
Trade Durty + Ishi + Whoeverelsetheywantnotnamedlincecain for Prince Fielder or another monster 1B masher.
Schierholtz in RF, of course.
Resign UUUUUUUribe. Try for 2yr deal, but I'm fine with 3. Plug him in at SS.
!@#$ release Renteria
2yr deal to Penny, if possible
2B Sanchez
RF Schierholtz
3B Pablo
LF Holiday
1B Fielder
SS Uribe
CF Rowand
C Whiteside
Lincecum
Cain
Bumgarner
Zito
Penny/Whoever
A few issues, unless Sandoval loses about 20 lbs he needs to move to 1B, so Fielder or any other 1B would not be a long term option.
I would rather use the 8 Million that Sanchez would get on Chone Figgins to play 3rd and one of Velez, Frandsen, Downs or Rohlinger should be able to hold down 2B, I know Figgins isn't a power hitter but the Giants need to improve on their team OBP too and Figgins leading off would help. I like Holliday or Bay but not at 20 Mil a year, maybe more like 15 mil a year.
Figgins 3B
Velez 2B
Holliday LF
Sandoval 1B
Uribe SS
Schierholtz RF
Posey C
Rowand CF
Lincecum
Zito
Cain
Sanchez
Bumgarner

Re: The Official Clean House Thread.
Blow it up.
Goodby to Sabean, Bochy, F. Sanchez, Winn, Molina and Penny. Suck up 2/3 of their salary and drop Rowand and Renteria.
Dead money for Rowand and Renteria = $15M.
Zito.........18.5
Lincecum.....10.0
Cain..........4.25
Affeldt.......4.0
Uribe.........2.5
Wilson........1.5
J. Sanchez....1.5
Start at this level, $57.25M.
Use 16 players at league minimum (or close to it), $6.75M. Raise payroll ceiling to $94.0M.
Use $30M to buy the two baddest bats we can.

Are you inferring that Teh Puppeteer has naked pictures of Teh Duke?

The Official Clean House Thread.
Sabean definitely deserves to be canned, but I want Bochy to go even more than him.
Bochy seems to make at least one completely idiotic move every game, not to mention his horrendous lineups.

Yes, self portraits together.

Adam Dunn would likely be a lot cheaper than Fielder in a trade.
