Sue Burns has Passed
I know I've been away from the boards for a while, but will someone PLEASE confirm for me that at one point Merk's thread was about Sue Burns being ill.
I clicked the SB icon on the front page and the first post was an article stating that Burns had passed away. The next few posts in the thread spoke of hoping that she was able to fully recover and hoping that she was OK.
Just a bit creepy, if you ask me.

Don't blame Merk.
He picked up that bad habit of changing thread titles from me.

Giants President Baer remembers Sue Burns; team to honor late owner with uniform patch
Posted by Andrew Baggarly on July 19th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
For a perspective on Sue Burns, perhaps we should turn to a person who sat with her at Giants games for the better part of 17 years.
“Not only did she embody the spirit of the Giants, she embodied exactly what you’d want that spirit to be,” club president Larry Baer said. “She had the outlook and frame of mind you’d hope any owner, fan or employee would have – all optimism, all driven for all the right reasons. And all for the community.”
By the time the Giants arrive home July 27, they’ll have patches sewn on their uniform to commemorate their late owner. Burns died early Sunday, barely a week after she was diagnosed with late-stage cancer.
There would be no better tribute than for the Giants to make the playoffs while wearing those patches. Anytime you see highlights of the 1984 Padres in the World Series, you see the RAK on their sleeve in honor of late owner Ray Kroc. It would be well deserved if the same were true for Sue.
The Giants plan to sew the patch on their hearts.
“A player could be just arriving in a trade or from another country and she’d be there to greet them with open arms,” Baer said. “She wanted everyone to know they were welcome to be Giants.
“And when they became ex-Giants, no matter what the circumstances of their leaving, every single player continued to love Sue. Jeff Kent, Barry (Bonds), Kirk Rueter – to her, they were part of the Giants family and that never changed.”
For those of you wondering how this affects the Giants’ ownership structure, Baer said nothing would change. The Burns family’s stake in the team, believed to be between 30 and 40 percent, will remain with daughters Trina and Tori. Both are devoted to the Giants, as is Sue’s son-in-law, Rob Dean.

I see that now. Honestly, I look at the thread's original title and rarely ever look at the titles again.

Makes sense, but it is still kinda creepy.
