GAMEBALL and JERK..... 06/10 Giants at Rockies

So the Giants 7 game Road winning streak has come to a close…..and the Giants have compiled a surprising 16-17 Road record, good for 3rd in the National League…..
Contrast this road record versus the league's second worst home record and something very peculiar is going on……..
Sure you have heard Kruk and Kuip talk about how the Giants bats love the warm weather and relatively short fences on the road……which you would expect away from the high walls and damn air of ATT Park…….but there is something else more interesting and perhaps more responsible for these amazing splits….and its all about the pitchers……
At Home per Game: Runs Scored [sign in to see URL] Runs Allowed [sign in to see URL]
On Road per Game: Runs Scored [sign in to see URL] Runs Allowed [sign in to see URL]
So that’s [sign in to see URL] more runs scored but an astounding [sign in to see URL] Runs less on the road allowed
and that’s AWAY from the cold damp home field of ATT……
I don’t know how to explain something like this, but I will propose one reason…….
Less Pressure……without the watchful judging eyes of the home crowd, the pitching staff can shine…….Or perhaps the warmer weather where hard throwers really get it pumping…..
So the pitchers doing better on the road youngsters, or hard throwers????

These are the pitchers who have a better Road ERA
Hinshaw, Zito, Sadler, Wilson, Threets, Taschner, Cain, Lincecum, and Walker……

Hell, perhaps it really is just random…..in which case we should look forward to the records balancing out as the year goes on and maybe, just maybe I can see my 3 win of the year at ATT

CASTILLO

Continued his hot ways with a 3 hit night……and he is looking more and more comfortable in the field and at the plate……..
Certainly not a HUGE year, but ANY progress was important for Castillo, as he was looking to be out of the majors soon……
But instead of that, Jose has cemented a job at 3rd, and with his versatility he might actually bring a marginal prospect back in return

TIP OF THE CAP emoticon
HORWITZ
Mr All Average, No Power belted his 2nd homer of his short career tonight…..
and I don’t trust scouts………….players can develop for years….and even into their 30's….especially when we are talking about Power and Plate Discipline……

BOWKER
Run scoring triple……..keep pounding the ball Mr Bowker…..

JERK :jerk:
MISCH
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Could have easily been held out of the rotation to make way for a Correia Start….
But Bochy wanted one more chance for Misch to show some progress as a starter……
Unfortunately Misch basically punched a ticker to either Fresno or the bullpen for his performance…….and the Giants can avoid the inevitable question of "how much longer do we keep running Zito out there……."
5 more years after this one, and even if we can find a spot for him in the bullpen…..there is always the chance that Zito might evolve into a serviable part at the end of the pichgin staff…..

CHULK
Didn’t offer anything is the form of relief as he got light up like a roman candle

Lots of jerks today:

Misch - Never gives us a chance to have an early lead.

Castillo - Thought he was Velez for a minute trying to take 3rd on a grounder to the pitcher.

Vizquel - Not paying attention to where Denker was in front of him. Luckily Denker scored.

Durham - Not paying attention to where Vizquel was on the same play!

Chulk - CHOKE!

Vizquel? You expected him to try to score on that play? He would have been called out! Denker just barely made it too.

No, he was too close to Denker which forced Denker to try and score...
