GAMEBALL and JERK..... 06/08 Giants at Nationals

06/08 Giants at Nationals

GAMEBALL emoticon
ZITO
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Zitro was dominant again today, scattering 11 base runners over 5 innings while limiting the High Octane Nationals offense to only 3 runs……
Zito had it all working today, using velocity, movement, and pinpoint control to vanquish the Nationals and notch his second win of the year……
You have to tip your cap to the Giants Management for signing Zito to such a risky contract……To the layperson, it would have seemed that Zito was a softtossing, poor control pitcher whose performance was declining year by year……but the Giants were willing to take the gamble while looking at the successes of the Hampton, Kevin Brown, and Chan Ho Park contracts for comfort……
Thank God the reports of Zito's decline were so wrong, as Zito has been the perfect veteran compliment at the top of the rotation, setting an example on and off the field for his up and coming rotation mates……
Additionally, Zito brings a marquee star value to a team struggling for an identity in a post Bonds era…….
Zito jerseys, pins, and bobblers are almost impossible to keep in stock…..when he pitches…..its almost as if the whole city of San Francisco tries to cram the park and get a glimpse of the that quirky surfer dude dropping knee buckling lollypops making hulkling sluggers look the fool……
Its hard to imagine the Giants without their field, clubhouse, and spiritual leader……
Perhaps not worth $126 million as a pitcher……but as a leader and face of a franchise he is more than worth it…..I dare to say the best contract of the Free Agent Era……..

TIP OF THE CAP emoticon
DURHAM
Muff turns into an impromptu Omaresque Double Play feed to Burriss……
Add 4 hits to that…..and Ray Ray is at .300

LEWIS
Kept the pressure on the Nats, by getting on base 4 times in 5 plate appearances…..and I love his patience at the top of the lineup……..#3 in the National League in pitches per plate appearance….with [sign in to see URL]…….trailing only Pat Burrell and Adam Dunn……

BULLPEN
Despite only pitching 4 innings, these 3 pitchers were adequate in converting Zito's win…..

JERK :jerk:
SABES
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
During a week where Sabes or at least Sabes' Management Team had won back some confidence and respect from the media and giants fanatics……you got to open your big mouth and insert foot…..
Referring to Posey being on the fast track, Sabes mentioned that "Bengie's clock is winding down."
NO I don’t care how you take that……DON’T SAY !@#$ LIKE THAT……
The truth or not, the last thing any player wants to hear is
1) The career is winding down…
2) You aren’t wanted here anymore…..
What the !@#$ are you thinking????
What can you gain from this statement????
And this is your Cleanup Hitter, Team Leader, Clutch "Gamer" who is responsible for much of the success in 2008…….

Sabes just plain aint thinking….
And these comments aren't postgame, NFL Head Coach heat of the moment, what the !@#$ kinda question is that……
These are matter of fact statements made on a radio telephone interview….
So Sabes, say as little as possible and keep working on this rebuilding thing……

SMACK OF THE STICK emoticon
NATIONALS BALLPARK
7th !@#$ level????You got to be kidding me…….they got the broadcasters so far away from the action, they are barely at the game……..
!@#$ next time the Nats visit San Francisco, I say we put the Nats broadcasters in Section 336 Row 16

Nice writeup.

I couldn't agree more about the Sabean-Molina dissing.

And for him to say that--coming off the heels of the humble comments that Bengie had to say about his career hit number 1,000, and what being able to play in the bigs means to him-- just makes it ten times worse.
--
“It means a lot to me,” an emotional Molina said. “It’s like most of the guys hitting 3,000. I know and understand I’m not a superstar. I’m not a Hall of Famer. But to get to 1,000 hits for a guy who wasn’t supposed to sign and signed for $1,000—$750 after taxes—for a guy who wasn’t supposed to make in the minor leagues, for being the slowest guy in the world, to get 1,000 hits is really an honor for me. … No scout in Puerto Rico gave me a chance to be a pro.”
--

Sabean is such an asshole.

Hey Bengie- Long may you ride, regardless of where and what you are doing.

You are ten times the man that Sabean has ever been and will ever be.

Not to mention you back your self into a corner when he starts to negotiate a contract with Posey/Agent.

Posey: I want 12 Million MLB Contract
Sabean: Slot is $$$$ and only a Minor League Contract
Posey: You said I was on the fast track
Sabean: Dee Da Dee

Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

That was absolutely dripping Merkin.

The pen nearly gave away Zito's hard fought win by giving up one hit and one walk in four innings.
