GAMEBALL and JERK..... 05/28 GIANTS at DBACKS
One of the questions the Giants are going to be faced with in the coming years is where to find its power…….
traditionally, hitters in Left and Right, and 1st base are the primary sources of power, since these positions are the "easier, less important" positions…….
Beyond that to a lesser degree, you also have power contributions from 3rd base and Center Field……..
Assuming the Giants need to build a team with 3 power bats, the Giants look to Left, Right, and 1st to fill those position……..
You plug a leadoff hitter in left field, and now you are looking for power from 3rd, SS, 2b, C, of CF…….
Now sure help at some of all of those positions is available…..its just a question of the Giant front office to understand the potential dilemma. now and start scouting players and situations that could help the Giants excuse this plan…..
And now…..GAMEBALL and JERK
05/28 GIANTS at DBACKS
GAMEBALL
LEWIS
Freddie Lewis looks like best leadoff hitter the Giants have had since Brett Butler's short lived tenure…….
I mean Christ, except for brief moments in time (Lofton, Butler, Bernards 1 good year, and Durhams legs were still somewhat healthy…….) The Giants haven't had a true lead off hitter……..like……EVER……..
I mean a patient hitter who can draw a walk, steal a base, and get on base at least at a ..350 clip or better……..
And boy howdy did Lewis do that tonight, leading off 4 innings by getting on base……..and the Giants put runs in all 4 innings……..
Big and lanky, with some pop……I see no reason that Lewis doesn’t become a fixture in Left Field for the Giants for years to come…….
TIP OF THE CAP
SANCHEZ
God, I love watching this guy pitch as much as Lincecum……
So raw and yet so difficult to hit…..it seems every time I watch this kid pitch he is either going to flame out in dramatic fashion……or take a remarkable leap forward in his progression…….
Man, Lincecum and Sanchez make quite a pair……
The lazy arm leftie, with easy velocity……
The max effort whirlwind rightie, who has grown his hair out just to get a little more mass behind the ball……
And in the end, the results are similar, racking up amazing K rates, and leaving the opponents slamming bats to the ground…..
DURHAM
Good night with the stick, belting a homer for the first run of the game,. and clearing the bases with a double that gave the Giants a 3 run lead…….
Stay hot Ray, Ray and we might just be able to find a home for you on a contender….
BURRISS
FINALLY some playing time for Manny…….and he is still looking good at short,….
showing off his arm doubling off Chris Young at first after catching a rocket off the bat of Stephen Drew….
Add a 2 run Single and Manny had a good night
MOLINA
Another scorching hot night…..leading all NL catchers in BA……while building a 19 point batting average lead on on Brian McCann
Two RBI's draws him even with Geovani Soto for most RBI from an NL Catcher….
Still Trails McCann and Soto by 3 homers……the race is too close to call……
Throw in fan favorite Russ Martin…..and do YOU trust Clint Hurdle to pick Molina????
Get out and VOTE
JERK
DBACKS
Wow……..the newly crowned 2008 NL West Champs are suddenly looking beatable…….
In month of May, the Dbacks went 7-13 outside the NL West inlcluding sweeps at the hands of the Cubs and the Marlins…..Perhaps the Dbacks aren’t as invincible as they had seemed when playing mostly NL West……
It could just be the NL West is THAT WEAK………..
SMACK OF THE STICK
NL WORST
Oh boy, here we go again……..
The NL West is looking weak and you know there is a part of Sabes that thinks this is his year……Tell you what Sabes……you are lucky to be where you are now……….
The NL West is looking like !@#$\.,……b ut the Ginats are surly shittier……
PADRES…..No Peavy, No Chris Young, No Power, No True Center Fielder in a huge park……..this team is going nowhere…..
ROCKIES….Pitching gone south……Closer loses his job, Francis looks like a chump…..Jimenez and Morales combine for 145 runners in 84 innings…..
Now Holiday and Hawpe are on the Shelf………
DODGERS….Mash unit on offense, as all the "old" guard sits and watches from the DL, as the youngsters try to swim………and the youngsters cant hit for power if their lives depended on it……Kuroda and Billingsley come through…..But Lowe and Penny are imploded……..
DBACKS….On paper, this is a ridiculously good team….but on the field their inexperience shows…….Still the best balance of offense, starters and bullpen…….but the team is snake bit versus good teams from across the league……..

Where will the Giants find their power?
How about someone that Sabean's long admired from afar?
WTF happened to that guy anyway?

Lewis looks great as a leadoff guy, he gets on base for the most part, and steals bases.
NL West flat out sucks goat balls this year...I figured it'd be alot better at the start of the year, and the teams would build off of last season, but I guess they didn't get the memo.

Lewis is a fine leadoff man if he never faces a lefty, and he's not mired in a Jose Cruz Jr-esque cold streak. Jury's still out, IMO.
Also, I'd prefer if Bochy stopped platooning him. He may stink out loud against lefties (.143, damn), but he's certainly not going to improve by never facing them. Any chance he has of becoming a viable everyday starter hinges on gaining respectability against southpaws.
BTW, is it just me, or does Lewis look like he has a bit of a lazy eye in that pic?

Oh come on! That's just unnecessary, dog.

I was wondering what that was about with Burris. When did Burris lay out the catcher, I missed that.
