To make his name sound like a Boston guy, try adding an 'h' to the end: Omah. (Pronounced Oh-mah). You know I hadn't thought about it...... I guess in my head its more like what it sounds like when yelling.....like a halfassed R........but still there.. more like an "Lets Go O-MAr" nondisclosed_email@example.com (merkin)Wed, 14 May 2008 23:36:27 +0000 Re: …https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469396,from=rss#post469396https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469396,from=rss#post469396quote:Nine Buck wrote: I could be wrong- so--I ask: Other than the Red Sox-- is there a legitimate pennant contending team that has a SS that is substantially weaker than Vizquel overall? Maybe Omar for a defensive replacement? Mets: Reyes Braves: Escobar Phillies: Rollins Cubs: Teh Riot and a bunch of options, all cheaper than Omar. Brewers: Hardy Cards: They've got a younger, cheaper version of vizquel in Ceasar Izturis D'Backs: yeah, they'll be just fine Tampa Bay: Bartlett. I dunno. Maybe, just maybe, if they keep up these winning ways they'll be intersted in a slick fielding old man Yanks: check Toronto: They have Eckstein aka "Teh Secret Weapon" Minn: Adam Everett (the guy the giants should have got) CLE: Peralta Det: Renteria ChiSox: Cabrera A's: Not interested most likely. Angels: Ayabar nondisclosed_email@example.com (chefjuan)Wed, 14 May 2008 22:06:30 +0000 Re: …https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469317,from=rss#post469317https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469317,from=rss#post469317Winn is the only vet with "showcase worthy trade potential." Hammy and Arugula are too old, too limited in defensive range and glove and too unproductive at the plate. And Vizquel, also old but still very good defensively, just doesn't have enough pop or hit for average to be useful to almost any other team besides the Red Sox. (I could be wrong- so--I ask: Other than the Red Sox-- is there a legitimate pennant contending team that has a SS that is substantially weaker than Vizquel overall? I'm just asking as I don't know. I haven't studied the complete SS roster and MiLB SS players for all the teams in the Majors) I'm assuming that other than Winn, no team will be looking to get any of our vets for next year. I would think that only a pennant run would cause any interest in filling a team's gap with any of these vets, and that it would take an injured player for them to even remotely consider Durham, Aurilia, Vizquel. IMHO-Not worth sitting the kids while hoping for that to happen. Giants need to eat the contracts and let the kids play instead of showcasing these old guys who aren't going to get them anything anyway. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Nine Buck)Wed, 14 May 2008 11:31:09 +0000 Re: …https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469299,from=rss#post469299https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469299,from=rss#post469299quote:TheMalcontent wrote: Couple of notes Merkin after the .... you should put Again because they jerked him around from starter to reliever to starter and now back to reliever. Durham needs to start at 2nd so he can increase his trade value hopefully. Lewis LF Omar SS Winn RF Molina C Rowand CF Bowker/Ortmeier 1B Durham 2B Aurilia 3B Right now I would rather play Durham at 2nd over Velez, both have poor defense but at least Durham may have value to another team at the Deadline maybe and next year I think Frandsen gets the nod at 2nd. According to Schulman, Velez is seen to have a high ceiling by management and they want him to learn to hit at this level. He is a future RF but the OF is clogged. I am not sure how I feel about the Giants giving vets ABs in hopes of moving them, I am to the point where I just want them to sit or be released so that we can get as many kids ABs as possible. Ideally Winn, Durham, Omar, Aurilia and Roberts would all be bench players or released.nondisclosed_email@example.com (sayheykid1)Wed, 14 May 2008 09:17:57 +0000 Re: GAMEBALL and JERK..... 05/13 ASTROS at GIANTShttps://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469290,from=rss#post469290https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p469290,from=rss#post469290Merkin - One more thing: You keep writing Omar Vizquel's name "Oma." And now he finally seems to be emerging from his "snake bitten" ways with his second win of the year……and now he can resume the work of emerging as one of the best pitchers in the game……… TIP OF THE CAP LEWIS Made all the difference, jump starting the Giants offense in the 1st inning smoking a Triple over the head of the center fielder…..and before the night was over Lewis would add a couple more hits to end just 1 hit short of the cycle OMA Schooling the young Houston center fielder…..but being aggressive and taking advantage of a lapse of concentration FEDS Thank you for keeping the world safe from Barry Bonds…..how dare professional athletes use PED's and then lie about it…..I cannot think of anything more important to our nation today than the PED's scandal in Baseball……. yeah right Gas is $4 a gallon, we are stuck in another Vietnam endless conflict and NOW….. the US DOLLAR is now WORTH LESS THAN THE CANADIAN DOLLAR?????? Yup lets spend tax payer dollars cleaning up PED's…..and while we are at it….lets review Bill Bellichek's home movies JERK CASTILLO Well, Ritchie looks like he is going to take your job from you.,…. Castillo is by no means a defensive wizard……but Aurilia is looking pretty damn good all of a sudden at the hot corner……. And in the interest of winning games……the Giants are very likely to play a 36 year old Ritchie over a 27 year old Castillo…….even though Castillo is the only one with a possible future with this team…….. With the return of Oma, the solid D of Aurilia…..the return of Durham……..the Giants could very well run a lineup out there with 6 vets for 8 positions……..better be careful or the youth movement will be over before it even could begin…… SMACK OF THE STICK BOWKER Let a double play ball skip right past him…….not bad considering his inexperience at 1st….but Bowker has been playing like he was a born 1st sacker and at this point I expect no less…… MERKIN He's hurt…..shut it down……. Making a appearance after "a hot spot" Merkin got slapped around by the Astros and his fastball sat about 92 or about 4MPH lower than usual……. There is no point is kiiling this kids arm….shut it down,,, and let the damn thing heal before we ruin a career…..   by merkin --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nondisclosed_email@example.com (merkin)Tue, 13 May 2008 23:51:09 +0000
