GB and JK 04/20/08 Giants at Cards

You know, I heard all kinds of BS about the meaning of 420……
The police code of possession, the number of psychoactive chemicals in weed, the day Jim Morrison died…. or Jimi Hendrix……
Hell these days, you could probably say it’s the ICD-9 Diagnosis code for your HMO……just hope it’s a formulary drug……
And for those doctors out there, remember to consult prescribing guidelines first

RAY RAY

Ray Ray has some life in t hat bat yet?????
Well today, he got the scoring started lacing a double down the line……
And although his batting average is a miserable .217…. looking at his peripheral stats…..2008 does not look like a repeat of 2007………
Ray saw his line drive rate plummet over the past couple years as his fly ball rate grew…..looks like Ray was swinging for the fences…….
2005-21%LD 32%FB
2006-17%LD 37%FB
2007-11%LD 42%FB
2008 23%LD 34%FB
Well with the small sample size that has given us .217, the same sample size is showing a dramatic reversal of the trend……perhaps the failures of 2007 caused Ray to search for his 2005 and 2006 approach?… or perhaps its just a mirage of stats……
Either way…. Ray MAY still have some value……..So if you play any of the aging vets…..play Ray and see if we can get some trade value come August……..
So Ray, thanks for the production today…..here is your GAMEBALL….and lets hope you can bring a prospect or two to the Giants sometime soon…..

Richie however looks cooked…..his peripherals are basically unchanged the last 4 years…with a little regression in 2007………combine that with Cinergy Field not translating to ATT…..and Aurilia looks like he was washed up last year………at this point the best we can hope for is 250 and 15HR... not nearly enough production for anyone to care

SMACK OF THE STICK emoticon
VINNIE
Vincent ruined a perfect pitching day by getting slapped around in the 9th…..

Shut down in Canada.. forced to come back home for game 7…….

totally agree with the smack of the stick...
here's something to think about:
Sanchez struck out five to raise his total to 26. Tim Lincecum has 27, and both are among the league leaders. Lincecum challenged Sanchez to a strikeout competition. Sanchez demonstrated his sanity by replying, "C'mon, man. I can't do that."

Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

You have to hit at least ONE XBH to be on pace for 15 HRs.

If Rich hits 8 by the end of this year, I'll fly down for FanFest and buy everyone a beer or four.

Just musing about trades and playoff [sign in to see URL] might want Durham?

How about the Chicago Sox?

The Sox are playoff contenders in the weak central, but if they want to compete, they'll need better than the .153/.219/.254 line they're getting from Juan Uribe, and they don't seem to have much of an insurance policy right now. The .454 OPS they're getting from combined second base production is 29th in the majors. By comparison, the Giants have a .625 OPS, 21st in the majors.

If Durham can turn it around, Chicago may be a good fit.

I'm not a Baseball America subscriber, but aren't the White Sox ranked last in organizational talent? Although, it is highly dubious to believe that iron glove Durham would fetch anything more than a live body.

Sure would be nice to send Ray to the Rockies in a package and pry away Jeff Baker.....
Christ, they already got Atikins and Helton, backed by Stewart and [sign in to see URL] is just rotting over there......

Pads need a secondbaseman, but they probably turn to Antonelli before they trade for help......

One other target might be the Mariners. With the Angels hurting for pitching and in a weak division (especially if the A's fall off), the M's might be in the hunt. A Durham centered-package, along with a couple of pitchers (especially relief depth) might be pretty for the M's. The M's just have Jose Lopez there right now, who is living by a .299 average. If that falls (as history indicates it should), his value drops. Durham could become a valuable short-term addition for them, to give Lopez a little more time before primetime.
