GB and JK 04/16/08 DBacks at GMen

OK folks, rather than putting energy into a GB and JERK on a game that either you didn’t see, or you wished you didn’t see…….I figured I would just rant and rave like a !@#$ lunatic…….

First of all, I got to say that this team isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be…..no wait……they are pretty bad…….what I mean to say…. is this team is more ENTERTAINING that I thought it was going to be…. I think I can bear a horrible season from these guys…..hey at least I'm not yelling at Devi Cruz through my TV……..

Velez is one confusing player…capable of looking like a beer league player and a major league star in the same game…….pick offs, popped up bunts, misplayed groundballs, horrible broken down swings…. stealing without a throw, highlight reel range, ungodly speed, and a quick bat with surprising pop….man this kid is raw…..and will have his share of embarrassing moments……but the talent is unmistaken…….

Franny, season over before it even began……something tells me that Giants middle infielders are going to pass Kevin left and right on the depth chart…..going to be hard for a kid without power or speed or the range to play a premium defensive position to make it in the big leagues, I don't care how "gritty" a player you are…….The Giants was his right place at the right time……and that looks to be passing him by…….but don’t feel bad for Kevin… he still has more Major League Service than you… and heck if Aaron Miles is in the Big Leagues…..perhaps there will be room for Kevin somewhere

Ortmeier, the selfless team guy moves to a new position gives up switch hitting and ain't afraid of work…….too bad he is allergic to playing time… or at least that seems to be Bochy's prognosis…….Will never hit for much of an average, but if he can play solid D, swipe a bag or two, and hit at least 20 dings….he makes a nice stop gap…….ok….I would settle for 15 dings at this point……

Aurilia……gamer……and that’s about the only attribute left in his game of any use……in an infield without Omar's steadying influence, Aurilia has become everyone's big brother.…..just an Average defender at 1st….his bat has slowed and his power is gone……..looking more and more like a coach…….

Ray Ray….good god… his defense is worse than ever, and his bat isn’t much better…..he does seem strangely cut out for the bench role…… Can do damage from either side of the plate, and with fresh legs is a stolen base threat…….and having a recognizable name on the bench looming has a slightly more intimidating psychological effect then pinch hitting Velez or Davis…….or even Winn or Rowand…….

Bocock
This little spark plug has played outstanding defense and has been a big part of the enjoyment of watching the Giants play….
Sure he is hitting .167, but this kid seems to work the hell out of the opposing pitcher…….
In fact this little shortstopsees 4.38 pitches per at bat which just happens to be the best on the Giants and 6th in the National League

Castillo
Do NOT write this guy off…..Ceiling……280-300 and 20-25 HR ….not saying its going to happen, but I bet he gets closer to those numbers than most of us expect……

Rajai
This kid is in a BIG TIME funk, and without options……he is likely to be released……too bad cause he does have some talent there,,,,,,but the OF is awful crowded all of a sudden…..in the Majors and in AAA

Rowand
Still don't like the signing, but Rowand has done everything he can for this team…. and a veteran role model is good for the kids…. and for the lineup……

Bengie
The catcher no one wanted is the indispensable leader on and off the field for this team……..

Omar
Bocock ain't going anywhere…..hope Omar doesn't mind being a 50% time player……heck it might even help his offense.,……

GAMEBALL

VELEZ

Provided the two minor highlights of the day….
Driving in the only run
And making a BAD ASS layout straight away from the plate grab for an out…..
Hey, in a day without much to cheer about…..that’s worth a GAMEBALL

TIP OF THE CAP emoticon
CHULK
Welcome back you mouth breather…. you really had a sub 4 ERA last year????
Maybe you don’t suck as bad as I remember

JERK
GLOVES
:jerk:

Come on…..whatcha doing giving Zito and excuse to deflect critisism….
First the dropped throw on the sacrifice which would have nailed the lead runner….
the the over Randy's head double in Center that 90% of the CF's in the game would hav e nabbed……
Yep Gloves, today you are the JERK

SMACK OF THE STICK emoticon
ZITO
Zero Wins……4 losses…..whats the record for consecutives losses by a pitcher???

i wonder who is the losingest (is that even a word?) pitcher for a season..can't be cain...but if it is..might be zero now..

Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

in 1883 for the Philadelphia Quakers John Coleman managed to lose 48 games. Record 12-54 he pitched 538 innings. So no possible way any pitcher in modern baseball could ever no matter how bad they were, heck even I couldn't lose 48 games if they pitched me every 5th day, that would be approximately 33 losses.

The most in a little more modern era of baseball (1935) was 25 Losses by Ben Cantwell

1962 Roger Craig lost 24

1965 Jack Fisher lost 24
