04/09/08 PADRES at GIANTS GB and JERK

Now THAT was a ballgame…….
Dueling Zeros….getting augmented by great defense on both sides of the ball…….this was the most exciting game of the year and that was even before the Giants cemented the win……
So the kids come home and wrap up their first series win, and suddenly despite their offensive woes…..there are signs if life…. signs of talent…..signs of progress.,……
and THAT was can build on…….

GAMEBALL and JERK

GAMEBALL

ORT

Doomed to follow in the great tradition of Giants 1st basemen, such as Tiny Minor, JR Phillips, and Lance Niekro….Ortmeier had been struggling at the plate and has been hearing whispers of failure behind him……
Well, looks like Mr Ortmeier might have given himself a brief reprieve…..
Having given up switch hitting just the day before, Ort came to the plate righty versus righty for the first time in his major league career…. and proceeded to muscle up and send the game winning hit over Edmonds head…….
So enjoy your moment Mr Ortmeier, and lets hope your new found righthanded form can earn a few more GAMEBALLS

TIP OF THE CAP emoticon
SANCHEZ
Was nastier than German Internet Porn…….with an almost unconscious 10 strike outs over 6 innings, Sanchez was completely dominant
16 K's in 10 innings is just freaking ridiculous…….with that black nasty stuff…..feels almost like I am watching the second coming of Randy Johnson out there,,,,,
Along with Cain and Lincecum, the Giants have 3 pitchers with #1 starter stuff in their rotation…….
Sure, TINSTAAPP … but just the thought of Bumgarner, Sosa, or some of these other potential minor league gems to the maturing trio of aces…….it makes me all tingly inside……

LEWIS
He may not be the most polished defender in the league, but this kid is one hell of an athlete……and he made a hellova reaction play snaring a foul ball while maintaining his footing in the bullpen, then unleashing a one hop laser to Molina to gun down Edmonds at the plate……

JERK
COMCAST
:jerk:

I don't know much about programming, broadcasting and so forth……but I do know that due to the Sharks playoff run, the Giants were relegated to CSN+ which is not available to all subscribers …
Sharks??? Playoffs????.. Come on, that couldn’t have a been a surprise……certainly we coulda done a NBC 11 Game here
I got to imagine it would out draw Deal or No Deal or whatever piece of crap Howie Mandel in hosting these days….
And BEYOND locking out thousands of loyal fans, I am really bothered by the "Radio Post Game on TV"
The Radio Wrap has been a magical piece of Radio, where some of the best baseball broadcasters in the business sit down an riff off each other for five to ten minutes after every game…… some of these exchanges have been some of the most informative, fun, or just fantastically freaking funny moments of Giants Baseball on the Radio……
Kruk, Kuip, Kahuna, and Flem and the sometimes random guest have a chemistry and sense of humor that is natural and impossible to replcate……
So in an effort to capture some of this magic on TV…..we end up listening to Greg Papa and FP Santangelo previewing and commentating on the Radio Wrap?????
Gee I wonder who Krukow is going to Pick?????
It just makes the whole thing seems contrite……
And then having the camera in the radio booth, while these guys are doing radio????
God bless the guys, they are doing their best to stay true to form…..but introducing a camera into that environment changes things……..
Worst case scenario….. the post game show changes to appease the camera….
Best case scenario……you get to WATCH good radio…..
Either way… good radio should be HEARD, not SEEN you JERKS……

SMACK OF THE STICK emoticon
You know what… I don’t really have much to gripe about here…..but since we are here…..
!@#$ YOU KHALIL GREENE
!@#$ YOU, and your !@#$ Wannbe surfer, but prematurely balding Prince Valient haircut…….
!@#$ YOU and your dingy too big uniform pants, that look like you are wearing your fat mama's sweatpants
!@#$ YOU and the bullshit stories of how you are a tireless gamer… and yet you always seem to get hurt during the stretch run, forcing your team to run out Geoff Blum yet again…..

That's "trite" ... "contrite" means you're feeling guilty.

I'd personally switch Sanchez and Ortmeier on this one. Sanchez was dominant.

This was a tough one, you really could flip a coin on who got the game ball, Ortmeier, Lewis or Sanchez and you couldn't go wrong. This may have been one of the most exciting games in the last few years, had everything, great pitching, clutch pitching, great defense (minus Rowand's brain fart), exciting base running.
