within = the voices in her head

who else could it mean?
Unless one buys into her claims that this Ballpark Annie is privy to internal discussions that are laden with racist comments?
(And I don't think that you believe that. I sure don't.)

And even if that were true-- kaliber had it right. That is no excuse for propagating the hate.

She stuck her foot in her mouth and is now backpedaling using the excuses and justifications that were last heard at the Nuremberg trials.

"I was just following orders."
"I didn't say it first, they did."

Triply Lame.

Wow. You actually claim to have worked in the Giants' organization and THIS is your take?

Burns died in November 2006. Your assertion is that the team has gone into the !@#$ only since he died, yet by late 2006, the wheels had already fallen off the Giants' coach and it had come to a grinding halt.

You can play the "Magowan is a chap SOB" card all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the Giants spend right up there with every team not named the Spankees, the Red Sux or the Tiger$.

The reason this team looks so effing bad right now has NOTHING to do with the death of Burns. It has everything to do with the fact that after the Giants signed Barry Bonds to his first contract extension, Brian Sabean had it in his mind that he was going to wheel and deal and land the team a World Series title by acquiring veterans who would surround Bonds and play baseball the right way.

He devoted so much time and money trying to find the right combination of overpaid players that he had to scrap the minor league system, the scouting department and the player development department in order to pay the schmucks who helped drag the team down into the abyss.

Plus, let's look at some of the players that the Giants have either signed or tried to sign over the past few years.

They got Zito for a ridiculous $126 million.
They got Roberts for $18 mil.
They got Winn for $23.5 mil
They got Durham for $15 mil
They got Morris for $27 mil
They got Benitez for $21 mil
They got Aurilia for $9 mil
They got Rownd for $60 mil

The Giants attempted to give Carlos Lee over $100 million and he turned them down.

The Giants offered Gary Matthews Jr $55 mil over 5 years and were lucky enough to lose out to the Angels, who offered similar money.

The Giants offered Alfonso Soriano ungodly jack and he laughed as he rejected them in favor of the Cubs.

Your racist comments about Magowan aside, you are just straight wrong about the man who has the purse strings. Sure, the ownership group is making money every year and there is no doubt that he could have opened the wallets just a bit more over the past few years. But the bottom line is that it was Brian Sabean who would have offered the extra money to players and I have ZERO doubt that he would have squandered it on the wrong players.

The reason this team is in the crapper right now and the reason this team will continue to be in the crapper for years to come is because Brian Sabean is the single most incompetent general manager in all of baseball. He has lost touch with the game of baseball. He has no idea what a quality player looks like and he has ZERO ability to build a team with quality young players.

The only way I will pin blame on Magowan is with the Zito signing. It has become abundantly obvious that Magowan made that one happen and Sabean is clear on that front.

But just for one minute - please - stop trying to crucify Magowan. Unless, of course, you want to crucify Magowan for the reason that I do - that he failed to fire Sabean last season AND that he actually gave the man a 2-year contract extension in order to further drive this team into the depths of hell.

It may be a little difficult to pare down to one person but more than anything it came down to poor signings. Only Winn so far amongst the list given has done ANYTHING!

Another thing, as much as I will bash Sabes, he can't do anything with the funds to. He can talk all he wants about players but until the wallet is pried open, his hands are tied.

A GM is only as good as his owner allows him to be.

So explain to me how a guy can have his hands tied while spends over $90 million, only to have a team that has a better chance to lose 100 games than win 70.

G'head. I'm waiting......

But he was given a 3-year, $23.5 million extension based on two months where he hit the ball about 40% better than his career averages said he was able to sustain. At the time that Winn got his, that kind of money could have purchased a LOT more than what it does now.

Winn is a decent OF, but he's a backup on a playoff-caliber team. He lacks power, he lacks the ability to hit for a high average, he lacks elite speed and he lacks the ability to play solid defense for an extended period of time.

Yup, that sure is something.

Sorry, I know you were saying something else with this post, but I wanted to point out just how bad Sabean's signing of Winn was.

Thanks. I wish I could follow that up by claiming that I know someone on the team or that I had worked in the front office and dated Renell or something.

But alas, I am just some schmuck who has followed the team for 30+ years and cannot stop being a fan.

Randy Winn is not given enough credit. Their are plenty of OFers that dont hit for power. He's a high quality fielder and can hit 300. He'd start for most teams and of course on the g's he may be their best player- scary as that seems! Now how he came up with those 14 bombs in the last two months of 2006?

Wow...there is so much of the pot calling the kettle black there that all of Mendicino County's collective mouth is watering.

Nine Buck, the defender for a hate-free message board?

Wow...that's like Cam clamoring for more people to misuse grammar.
