Spring Training
I hate it when people say ST doesn't mean anything. Obviously the overall record is meaningless, but especially this year for a team like the Giants, you can't tell me ST is meaningless. We have quite a few younger guys fighting for roster spots. You can't tell me their performance doesn't mean anything. If a guy like Velez hits .313 and steals 20 bags. That means something. If Ortmeier finishes below .200 that means something. Lewis, Valdez, you can go on down the line. Does their performance good bad neccesarily mean their season will go the same way? No, but it gives us an indication of what these young guys may or may not be capable of. If this were a vetran laden team then I might agree that it doesn't mean much, but for this year's squad IMO it does.

I totally agree about individual performances being meaningful. I just think win/loss records are meaningless.

...at the same time, this is 3.5 weeks into ST, and the season is 6 months long. Take a 3.5 week snapshot of any player and it means very little, I think.
