posticon Transactions

Where is the best place to find out current transactions? All of the teams are really slow releasing the info.

I'm looking for info on Armando Rios, any word on him? I don't want to email him and ask him if he got sent to minor league camp.

Armando Rios still plays pro ball?

Seriously, that's not snide or anything...I just haven't heard about him in years unless it was in connection with the BALCO case.

Armando Rios' stats through 2005 (his last pro year) at : The Baseball Cube

Rios was signed to a minor league contract on 3/1 (by the Reds).

I look at a few places for transactions. Sometime one gets it first, other times another does (and the MLB official web sites are often really slooooow to get updated).

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/transactions/index.jsp

http://stats.washingtonpost.com/mlb/stats.asp?file=recenttrans

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/transactions

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/transactions

I really never found a good spot for minor league transactions.

Yeah, he was with the Louisiville Bats last season. He has a chance to make the big team this year.

He has been playing in PR in the winter, along with running his own baseball school in North Carolina.

I went to the first game he ever played, 1998 at Dodger Stadium. He hit an oppo bomb off Darren Dreifort in his first AB and I knew right then and there that he had to be on something. People that are 5'7 do not hit oppo bombs with wood bats unless they are juiced

I've known him for years and knew that he was juicing. You would not believe the change in him the summer after his senior in college...everyone knew it.

In terms of player movement, MiLB is not bad at all, and last year they were much better at updating it quickly. They only do it in 'league' transactions, and mentions of the DL do not give any info. But it's better than nothing.

Some team's sites also have writers who are very detailed (Joe Ritzo in San Jose is awesome)....others, not so much. Can't say regarding the Reds.

…River runs dry

Rios has played in 8 games this spring with the Reds. With 10 ABs he is hitting .100, OPB .182 and SLG .200. Tied for 4th on the Reds with 6 K's (each of the other 4 has 27, or more ABs). The end is near.
