on the other board yesterday

"would you guys trade matt cain to the reds for some prospects?"

why does every dumbass fan think in this fashion:

"their team sucks, they have a couple good pitchers. let's cherry pick that pitcher to help our team, and surely they will accept some aaa pussy who has a 'high cieling"

i feel dirtier than client #9 wanting to stick it in the butt without a condom for even bringing the subject up, but the idiocy was just so unbelievable. fans are even dumber than they are given credit for.

Yeah, I'd trade Cain to the Reds for a package of prospects starting with Bruce and Cueto. I'm sure that would go over really well with any Reds fan.

Just sayin'

for cain, i would expect a legitamate major league player with at least one year in mlb, and a potential all star apprearance in the immediate future, as this what cain is. even then, cain is a guy to build [sign in to see URL] for sale, period.

The biggest problem arises when you point out the fact that the "trades" they offer are completely unfair.

None of them has the ability to see the other side of the deal.

"But Jay Bruce is a sure thing. There's no way he's going to miss. We SHOULD be asking you for Cain and Lincecum for him, but we're being nice."

(or something like that).

Almost every sports fan in America has been blinded by fantasy baseball and MLB Baseball for the XBox or Playstation. They thing that just because they can get a deal like that in their league that it will translate well to the real world as well.

I'm sure the Detroit Tigers have always regretted trading a young Smoltz to the Braves for Doyle Alexander.

IMO the Giants would regret trading Cain and/or Lincecum.

Just sayin'

exactly, because this overlooks the intangible value of a player to a team. in this case, cain is a building block, and worth more to the giants than he is in fantasy league.

it's like having a decent car when you have no money. sure the car is only worth 10 grand, but to the owner it is irreplaceable. using the car to solve the no money problem (ablility to get to new job) outweighs having 10 grad and no car.

Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, and Johnny Cueto should get it done. not going to happen but that's the Package that would get me on board.

Apples - Cinder Blocks. Cain and Linceum are in the bigs. Smoltz was a minor-leaguer with promise. No one could have known he'd pitch for 20 years.

The Tigers won the division because Alexander went 9-0. People were thinking it was a pretty good trade at the time.

Had the Tigers not hit rock bottom in the 90's the trade would not have the "regret" it has for some.

I saw an article from a Cincy writer that propsed a Joe Blanton for Joey Votto and Homer Bailey trade. Obviously, the writer is hack, but would any of you take that deal for Cain? I would.

I'd want a little more for Cain. Mayby EE, Cueto and Stubbs.
