What too many posters on different boards don't recognize is that the Giants pitchers need to at least have SOME slight confidence that the team has a hitter or two that can impact a game and a healthy Crede could possibly do that. Put yourself in Matt Cain's shoes after last years offensive disaster. It won't be pretty either way but Crede MAY be able to help put a few runs on the board. He's a GG 3B... he'd save a few runs too. That's actually what I'm more concerned about at 3B at this point. We've had like 800 errors in ST!!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (losgigantes)Fri, 14 Mar 2008 09:30:37 +0000 https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458164,from=rss#post458164https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458164,from=rss#post458164I'm guessing "K-RAP" = randy messenger...?nondisclosed_email@example.com (losgigantes)Fri, 14 Mar 2008 09:27:07 +0000 https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458151,from=rss#post458151https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458151,from=rss#post458151There is a God! I can express how happy I am to hear that Sabean is putting his foot down and not offering up anything of great value for Crede. While the Giants could use Crede, he isn't going to turn this team around. The Giants are still going to stink this year so why give up Sanchez or any top prospect for him. I'm glad to hear that Sabean has come to his senses. Too bad for Williams that he has to try and put pressure on Sabean in the press. Nice try but it sounds like it isn't going to work. The Sox better take what they can get for him even if that means taking Messenger, Roberts and/or Kline. Just sayin'nondisclosed_email@example.com (22TheThrill)Fri, 14 Mar 2008 08:41:46 +0000 Re: Offers for Crede....https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458149,from=rss#post458149https://boardsfgiantsfans.runboard.com/p458149,from=rss#post458149Crede is definitely worth a gamble as long as it is only K-RAP we are sending back. The difference in opinion over the value of Joe Crede is about as wide as the gap between the White Sox third baseman's 2006 Silver Slugger Award season and his .080 spring average. San Francisco, the most likely suitor for Crede, and the Sox have disparate evaluations that carry ramifications for both sides. A talent evaluator familiar with both teams said the Sox were miffed the Giants' offers for Crede included since-released pitcher Scott Williamson; pitcher Randy Messenger, who was optioned to Triple-A Fresno last week; and veteran outfielder Dave Roberts. The source said the Giants believe Sox general manager Ken Williams' asking price ? one of the Giants' top prospects and a serviceable young reliever ? was too steep for a 29-year-old infielder coming off season-ending back surgery. -- Chicago Tribune nondisclosed_email@example.com (timmy4cyyoung)Fri, 14 Mar 2008 07:59:31 +0000
