Brandon Inge??? WTF?

I'd be curious to see VORP data on strong fielding/weak hitting vs weak fielding/strong hitting at 3B.

There has to be a lot better option out there for third base than F'n Inge or Crede. COME ON!

Care to name some of them?

I've already listed the impending free agents....and there's no answers.

The only depth at third base throughout the league with MLB ready or near ready third basemen is in division rivals and maybe Tampa Bay...and teams with veterans being displaced by young players who aren't trading their young players, like the Tigers and White Sox.

So, as I said, if there are better options 'out there', where are they?

Brute, I can see your point of view but I contend that every player has a price tag and Sabean, right or wrong, isn't willing to pay that price. I have to believe that Kouzmanoff or Headley in SD, Keppinger or EE in CIN, Marte in CLE, or Betemit in NY, all could be had for the right price. I still think part of the problem is that Sabean is gun shy after the AJ deal.

Assuming that I am wrong and there is no other options available at 3B beyond Crede and Inge, then why exasperate the situation by taking on another cra_P contract like Inge's or give up any talent for a one-year rental on Crede? I'd rather go with no-glove Velez at 3B than dig a deeper hole with the payroll.

Just my $.02

You know, all this talk of a 3b got me thinking. Time to think smaller. I think a Jon Sanchez(or similar) trade for Martin Prado makes sense for both clubs. Once Infante comes back, Prado becomes even more expendable and he's a 2b by trade but has seen time at 3b and shown to be capable. He brings very little pop, but a solid bat. And he's cheap.
Think Frandsen, but younger. And with talent.

It can definitely hurt, IMO.

His glove is his weakness. The hot corner should not be skimped on in terms of D in my opinion. Think about how many base hits Pedro has saved in the past few years. Think about those diving stops, the cannon throw to 1B. Think if those balls were booted. Misplayed. Now Cain/Franchise/Whoever is in the stretch. More pitches thrown. Chances for steals. Balls find holes. Suddenly your SP is out of the game in the 6th inning, now it's a bullpen game. This is a very tricky thing here folks. I'd much rather have a defensive-leaning 3B than offensive.

Inge will not hurt you in the field. He only made 7 more errors than Feliz with 19 more chances.

It's at the plate where he'll be the liability.

We already have enough liabilities at the plate as is. Pass please.

If you read this thread you'll know I'm not pimping Inge. I'm just pointing out the reason why you don't want him.

And it ain't his glove.

There's just no fit here. We don't need what you got and you are not going to over trade. I'll be surpeised if this happens.

I'd be all for a trade to the Dodgers however!
