Hey, if they can get a AAA prospect 3B with a great glove & halfway decent at the plate, then awesome. Problem is, teams don't give players like that away. Not for garbage like roberts/kline/aurilia. I mean seriously, you guys are crackin me up with the "let's trade the guys that no one wants!!! no problem!!" emoticon

Winn has some value. I've said this over and over again, why not trade Winn to the PAAAdres for Headley? The Giants could pay a ton of Winn's contract and the PAAAdres get the outfielder that they NEED to compete this year. Makes sense to me.

I just think Sabean has lost the touch for making deals since the AJ disaster.

Just sayin'

Interdivision trade? Or is that a moot point for the present?

I like Winn and I do think your boys can get something for him. But there's no way in hell they pull a Headley for him!!
I'm not quite sure what his value is, but I think I can say with confidence, it's not Headley type value.

Absolutely trade within the division! At this point the Giants need players. If any team is willing to listen then it's time to talk Turkey.

If the PAAAdres don't want to give up Headley then ask for Kouzmanoff. Basically I think beyond putting a "for sale" sign up recently, Sabean is not being very proactive in trying to find bats.

Brandon Inge??? WTF?

Instead of a brain-dead Caribbean hacking at slop nightly, the Giants would have a white guy who looks like he's been vacationing in the Caribbean and is so hung over from the experience that he appears brain dead while hacking at - and missing - slop nightly.

There has to be a lot better option out there for third base than F'n Inge or Crede. COME ON!

Care to name some of them?

I've already listed the impending free agents....and there's no answers.

The only depth at third base throughout the league with MLB ready or near ready third basemen is in division rivals and maybe Tampa Bay...and teams with veterans being displaced by young players who aren't trading their young players, like the Tigers and White Sox.

So, as I said, if there are better options 'out there', where are they?

There are no good options out there, whether it be Crede, Inge, or someone else. Give Velez a shot and see if it works out. It can't hurt at this point. At least he has some speed. Judging by our poor situational hitting, he may just have to steal 3 bases to score lol.

Brandon Inge??? WTF?

It can definitely hurt, IMO.

His glove is his weakness. The hot corner should not be skimped on in terms of D in my opinion. Think about how many base hits Pedro has saved in the past few years. Think about those diving stops, the cannon throw to 1B. Think if those balls were booted. Misplayed. Now Cain/Franchise/Whoever is in the stretch. More pitches thrown. Chances for steals. Balls find holes. Suddenly your SP is out of the game in the 6th inning, now it's a bullpen game. This is a very tricky thing here folks. I'd much rather have a defensive-leaning 3B than offensive.

In a perfect world yes. But this isn't a perfect world. I don't want to see them take on a guy at 19 mil over 3 years. Brandon Inge isn't going to make us all that much better IMO. At best he makes us 2-3 wins better maybe? This team is so bad that it is not going to make a difference. This year is for getting a look at some of the younger guys. Velez fits that mold. At least if he doesn't pan out, we won't be on the hook for a fat contract. Wheras if Inge flops, we would be. We already have a few bad contracts on this squad. We do not need another. I agree with Byco. On a good team, Inge would be valuable, but on this one he is not.
