How many wins this season?

How many wins will this team get this year? The hitting sucks like we all knew it would. The starting pitching, which most thought would be a strong point has struggled with performance and injury. There have been a few nice stories though. Merkin has done a heck of a job so far as has Threets. Velez has impressed me as well. Correia has been solid too.

i think 70 is the max, somebody on offense needs to step up big time.

Before ST I thought close to 70, probably in the 68-70 range, but after watching and listening for almost 2 weeks, I think under 62 is a strong possibility. I know there will be those who counter that ST doesn't mean anything, but so far this team hasn't shown many signs for hope. They are getting blown out on a regular basis. The fundamental aspects of the game are really lacking with this team. I have seen and heard on a number of occasions guys not making productive outs... i.e. getting runners over, knocking them in from third with less than 2 outs etc. The infield D has been spotty. I realize there are three weeks left for these guys to improve, and maybe they will who knows? With an offense this bad, it is absolutely imperative that they do the little things right. The fact that they are not doing those things is what scares me the most above all else.

people always complains about pedro but one thing that he did bring was great defense, he should of won a golden glove last year. losing him is huge and the obvious decline of omar is big problem as well. just poor planning on sabeans part like the past 5 offseasons. i dont worry about the rotation, control guys never do well early on in the spring. i think misch is going to be a good replacement for lowry until he returns and i still believe valdez/threets can make a impact. the biggest problems are at 1b/3b, i just dont understand why nate isnt moved to that spot, he would get plenty of abs. im just not a fan or ortemier, hes never done anything in the minors and there expecting him to produce. i could live with velez at third, frankly hes been the giants best offensive player so far in spring. he can make a impact if he can consistenly get on base.

I agree about Velez. I wish they would give him a shot at 3B. I also agree with missing Feliz D. However, Zito is another story. It would be one thing if he pitched well last year, but he didn't. He talked all offseason how he was more relaxed and how he was going to attack hitters consistently this year... well he hasn't done that so far. The walks drive me nuts. It's the same exact pattern he followed last year. I don't see much hope for a rebound year for him. He's so up and down. He's bad one oting good the next, then bad, You can't have that from a guy you are paying ace type money. He'll win aroiund 11-12 games this year maybe.

With luck-- 63 wins which narrowly avoids the dreaded 100 loss "plateau".

15 games back by the All Star break.

Where we will pick the best pitcher in the draft, unless hopefully Sabean is fired by the All Star break and they start rebuilding their scouting and coaching philosophies.

Sabean will never get fired as long as Magowan owns the club. He signed a pact with Teh Pink Devil regarding his knowledge about the clubs ped's problems.

Why else would he still be here?

Unhappily, your poll is too optimistic! This team will be lucky to win 50 games, and 112 losses is realistic!
