yeah, I know. It was already brought to my attention. You might notice it in the few post before yours. So someone has beat you in mentioning that as well.

Hell, I wrote a post about how awesome Augusta was going to be about a month ago.

Interesting implication: D'Alessio to San Jose for sure, then?

D'Alessio to San Jose must also mean that Pill will go to the Defenders and that Ishi will get one last chance at Fresneck?

Just sayin'

Re: Augusta in '08

Looks like Augusta and Rome will be the teams to beat.
Villalona against Heyward. Nice.

The thing is, who's going to catch? For sure I thought it was going to be Ambort but he had surgery on his elbow, again.

Williams might still be the guy in Augusta, but if Williams goes to San Jose, then I'd expect Matt Klimas to be that guy. Klimas put up a pretty decent year last year in the AZL as a 20-year old.

Is Williams the top ranked catcher in the Giants system now?

Seems like the Giants need to draft or trade for more catching prospects.

Just sayin'

Klimas wasn't as good has his numbers suggested, he didn't really hit the ball that hard, especially towards the end. He was not the greatest behind the plate either.

Out of the 3 catchers in AZ I liked Monell the most. He drew walks, he took advantage of RBI opportunities and he called the best game.

But I’ll tell you this Klimas has been hitting the ball much better this spring. With a bit more authority.

Are you "local" to Augusta, or were you speaking metaphorically ? I always love hearing reports from guys who *watch* the games.

PS - anybody planning on going to *at least* 10 SJ Giants games this year? I couldn't go much last year, and it broke my heart.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

I did think this warranted its own thread, so pardon the tangent, but Fresno opens up in Portland this year if anyone is interested in making the trip up (olddad).
