Re: VELEZ!!!

I hate to cast a pall over your party here, but Ay-You-Hen-Ee-Yo Velez is not what you think he is.

The kid is Alex Sanchez without the 'roid suspension.

He's Darren Lewis without the defense.

The kid is Herb Washington circa 2008.

He's not a starting ML player. He's not even really a super-sub.

Please return yourselves to your regularly scheduled delusion.

funny.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

But it's a lot closer to being true than the idea that the kid should break camp with the Giants and start at 2nd base or 3rd base and be the lead-off hitter.

The way some are talking, an impartial outsider would think Velez is good enough to play on a major league roster.

Heck, the A's seem to be without Bob Crosby again today. Maybe the Giants should trade Velez and Lowry to the A's for Joe Blanton. That's fair, right?

I mean, after all, Noah Lowry is almost as good as Eric Bedard and Velez is the fastest guy in the history of baseball.

Seems fair to me.

cam, how can you be so callous. surely 15 spring training ab's is a plenty big sampleing to determine that he is better than ray durham (major league veteran and former all star), kevin frandsden (more than 200 mlb ab's), and anyone else who has not been hitting the minor league quality pitching that is a common theme the whole spring training schedule.

Velez is out hitting every ML hitter on our team, he has stolen 6 bags in 6 attempts. Ray Durham is injury prone and is coming off his worst season at 36 and isn't showing he's going to have a rebound season. If Velez keeps his current production up through out spring he should be our starting 2B and Frandsen should be at 3rd.

After reading that comment, I believe the only possible recourse is to ask you to change your username to Vizzini.

LOL. Just put Velez on the "All Spring Training" roster right next to Damon Minor, Tony Torcato and Carlos Valderrama. I'm sold.

So because those players were busts after having a great spring means that no player in the future can break into the majors after a great Spring. I guess we should just stick with what has been working for the last 3 years, sign over the hill vets and trade prospects for rental players.
