VELEZ!!!
Is it just me or is Velez playing his way onto a roster spot so far. He played 3rd to which I could not see because of a MLB TV screw up!!! The kid is stealing basees like there is no tomorrow!! What about Frandsenond at third and Velez at second???

I would love to see Velez beat out Durham at 2nd, this would allow us to dump Roberts as our lead off hitter (The only reason I can see as to why he would be starting over Scheirholtz).

the knock on velez is his glove, and he had an error today (maybe two?) If you put him at 2B, franny gets passed up AGAIN. If you put him at 3B, our infield defense will be the worst in the majors. Sorry to say, but I don't think he has any spot on this team... other than the bench.

Re: VELEZ!!!
From I understand, and I maybe wrong, but his defence is better at second than other postions. I understand you have to be strong up the middle. But man, when that kid gets on base he creates havoc!!! Ob and he is hitting (at least at the moment)

Thats right, the opening day lineup I want to see is:
2b. Velez
3b. Frandsen
Lf. Winn
C. Molina
Cf. Rowand
Rf. Scheirholtz
1b. Ort
SS. Vizquel
SP. Cain
Although in the likely event Vizquel is a no show on opening day, Frandsen plays SS, and Aurilia plays 3b.
Yes I know Zito is penciled in as SP. but c'mon!

Yes we'd all like to see that lineup...but the majority of fans that go to Giants games are casual fans, and that lineup wont put butts in the seats. Not that a lineup with Durham, and Aurillia in it will, but casual Giant fan is going to learn it the hard way. When the giants start out slow i would expect to see Velez AND frandsen in the lineup at the same time.

I might need Brute to help me with the quote, but didn't a scout say that Velez had, "Thunder in his hands."?

Re: VELEZ!!!
Why Schierholtz over Lewis? Freddie has dominated this spring and has proven he's more major league ready than Nate is at this point. He's also outplayed Davis by a landslide. If they lose Lewis to Waivers instead of putting Schierholtz in Fresno it wouldn't make much sense.
