Spring Training 101

So I've never been to Spring Training but I've always wanted to.

THis year I'm thinking of going for at least a few days in March.

Those of you who have gone... Where do I fly into? Where should I stay? What should I do while there? Attend a game, workouts etc...

If you already have a trip planned, what is your itinerary look like?

TIA

Eat dinner at Don & Charlies. It is the must do of S.T., tons of players, announcers, and great food. If you get there right when they open (4 or 5 I think) you can get a table real fast, peak hours...you better work on reservations now.

sffromsf, I'll do a nice ST guide that may answer all your questions, but I wouldn't stop you from taking other suggestions. D&C's is an absolute must! emoticon

I will be there personally the last week of ST, and in fact will be driving back and catch the SF Giants at Fresno Grizzlies game in Fresno on Wed. 2/26.

pheonix that's the best and cheapest

Where should I stay?
if you're on a budget not in scottsdale...some place like pheonix..if you're rich then you stay in scottsdale and at one of the hotels they have listed in the giants vacation packages but be prepared to pay at least 200+/night

What should I do while there? Attend a game, workouts etc...
you can go shopping in the mini dugout for souvenirs and stuff like that or just watch the game like others or go to ISP (indian school park) for the youngsters or just go to other parks and try out their food

If you already have a trip planned, what is your itinerary look like?
if you want autos u have to get there by 6am or so...
if you want to see bp and stuff i think a couple hours b4 the game
if you want to try food you go to check out other parks
if you want to go to come of the places players go to make reservations now like others have said

TIA

Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

Days Inn by the Scottsdale Fashion Square is nice. You can find a run for under $100. The thing is might be hard to find a room there because of it's location and that the minor leaguers stay there. I would still try and see if there is anything availible.

Check out the link.
